I agree that you shouldn't have to "force" anything - that's not proper web development. What version of Safari are you running on both devices? |
Running iOS 13.4, so latest version of safari on both phone and tablet.

...and not to spam the thread, but I just took a look and noticed that you are already set to "display as desktop" which is why you are getting that "zoomed in" appearance. If you look at the very bottom of the screen, you should see the "display as mobile" link which will push you to the correct format for mobile. |
But desktop has worked before (and I prefer it) :P

Figures - that's the ONE browser type, I can't test on. I have a Mac, so I can test on Safari (and things look perfectly fine) - but I'm an Android guy, and don't have any "i" portable devices... ...I will try and track down an emulator or something, and see what the heck is going on!! |
I don't know how accurate it is (it probably isn't but might still be useful), but Firefox can sort of simulate/emulate the way different browsers display web sites. Specifically, it has a Responsive Design Mode which lets you choose different devices. You can open it via normal web dev tools or by using Ctrl + Shift + M.

If you have Opera, then you can test there. It has extensions to test websites in their mobile form, both Android and iOS:

SpokenTruth said: I always suggest the following options: https://crossbrowsertesting.com/ Browser extensions can be a simple method but they will miss a lot that can only truly be found in dedicated hardware with the actual browser. That's what these cross-browser/cross-platform web sites do. |
I didn't suggest those because they need a paid subscription. Not sure if VGChartz would cover for those $20-30 per month per user, even though it's needed for the website.
That said, I didn't know about Browsershots yet. The question is how long until it's your turn in the queue, might take a while before your site submission gets tested.
