Well honestly, ima call it out that speed only is seeming to matter because that’s the only advantage PS5 has more or less. The narrative for over 15 years was who has the most power...both sides fought over this. Now speed all of a sudden is the forefront??? Lol cmon.

Both will have crazy reduced load times compared to last gen. PS5 will just do theirs better. But ultimately it won’t have the raw power to really do what the Series X is capable of. What it can do it will do very fast but the ceiling just is under Xbox.

Plus we keep counting the TF for PS5 when it’s being overclocked where as the Series X maintains the entire time. PS5 will be struggling just to keep the 2 TF gap, the reality will be 3 standard, which is about 25%.

Call me a traditionalist, Im going with the criteria that always mattered for console specs instead of going with a narrative that was never brought up in the past.

That was only a narrative because PS360 was a case of specs on paper favoring the PS3 sligthly (but X360 having better GPU) while this gen Xbox fanbase refusing the power disadvantage and claiming secret sauce. If most sony fans accept XSX seems stronger and are curious about the SSD making a difference on the opposite direction. When games start flowing we may see a lot of this discussion again and see what will come of it.

? On paper “teh cell” was supposed to blow Xbox 360 out of the water. The reality was another story but I remember that narrative like it was yesterday. Sony pushed it initially but the fans keep it going for years.

Wait Xbox fans claiming secret sauce? From my perspective I say ps guys are using SSD as secret sauce. Teraflops is just a new way of pushing the power narrative. Say what you will, but our narratives are consistent every gen. I mean Xbox One was weak, but we complained and eventually we got our X console. Og Xbox was a beast and 360 held its own. We know what we like.

Nothing like a new generation of speculation back and forth to get the blood pumping ;)

Don't pretend you don't remember the Mr. Xcloud or something like that who used to have a blog dedicated to creating secret sauce rumor for X1. You were in VGC at the time.

SSD isn't secret sauce, it is a revealed feature.

Huh, I honestly don’t remember that. Seems like one guy rather then a online collective narrative.
But the term “secret sauce” now is just an expression, not literal. It means “it’s expected to do more then it actually will”. Just like what cell represented.

Switch's portability.

Animal Crossing NH Dream Address: DA-1078-9916-3261

Price and brand power are more important than either of these. Are we talking who will win sales, or something like impact on games? Power will always win the second one. Sony will always beat MS in sales barring something drastic regardless of which has the speed or lower advantage, they just have a wider reach.

We don't know if it was a guy or group, but it got posted almost daily in VGC between reveal and release of Xbox One, after that he still was posting that DirectX update would make X1 more powerful than PS4.

Speaking purely for myself, the speed difference the PlayStation 5 seems to offer is more appealing to me. The raw power difference between the PlayStation 5 and the Series X looks like it will be smaller than the speed difference overall. The speed the PS5 offers should free up developers more to make the kind of games that they really want to, and also make for more immersive play experiences for gamers wherein it becomes much easier to forget that you're playing a game.

That's just in terms of hardware, of course. The library of games that become available for either in the launch window will be a more important factor determining which I get first. However...realistically, that's also going to be a winning column for the PS5 to me, based on what sort of games Sony has earned a rep for of late.

I make very little money, so price may also be a factor that affects my prioritization of which new console to buy first. However, let's be real, any advantage that either may have over the other in terms of price will also likely be had by the PS5.

Thus, it's realistically going to be the PS5 first for me. Microsoft will have to really surprise and impress me to persuade me to buy a Series X this year instead of next year.

Well I guess my new definition of secret sauce fits every situation nicely lol

In the power of speed vs power, the real winner will be the system which offers convenience, portability and a killer first party library at a lower price point.

All the more reason as a Japanese company I would not sell to them. Those western gamers are on PS4 and Switch anyway who want Japanese stuff.

I dunno, Segas stock price is hilariously low. Like just begging for a takeover bid. A guy can dream.

Keep dreaming. That bullshit is not happening
