Huh, I honestly don’t remember that. Seems like one guy rather then a online collective narrative. 
But the term “secret sauce” now is just an expression, not literal. It means “it’s expected to do more then it actually will”. Just like what cell represented. 

We don't know if it was a guy or group, but it got posted almost daily in VGC between reveal and release of Xbox One, after that he still was posting that DirectX update would make X1 more powerful than PS4.
