Forums - Gaming - Rumor: E3 might be canceled after all, EDIT : CONFIRMED (To be announced today March 11 at 9:30 AM LA time)

What do you think

Corona has entered the chat 4 57.14%

What is E3 ? 2 28.57%

we still have another 450 days for E3 1 14.29%

Total:7

Another good thing is that live shows tend to range from corny to even cringe moments if the speaker isn’t good with crowds. A Nintendo Direct style or something low key like they did with XO19 would cut the crap and just give us the trailers and info we want.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I’m sorry but I think cancelling stuff (any stuff, doesn’t matter that this thread happens to be about E3) this far in advance is exaggerating. E3 is when like 3 months from now? I guess jumping the gun comes with these a-social media times, but I would’ve waited before making such a definitive decision. The whole virus thing could just as well be blown over by then. Could also not, but you can also cancel your event two months from now if need be.

Please read the last tweet from ESA or the news feed on VGchartz. It's official

Losing E3 would be devastating for me personally. The great thing about E3 is the timing, 3 days of conferences. If everybody just does their own digital events going forward they will all pick different days or weeks even so that they can have all the attention to themselves. We would go from 3 days of compacted awesomeness, to having everything we get at E3 spread out over a few weeks instead, that is nowhere near as fun.

It makes so much sense. It's not because everything can be streamed/posted on Youtube that conferences shouldn't exist. It's not because games run on PCs that consoles shouldn't exist. It's not because movies run on PCs that theatres shouldn't exist. It's not because TV shows run on PCs that TVs shouldn't exist.

E3 is great. It puts the industry together on a weekend where they all compete for our attention and drop all the most important news at the same time. This can't be replicated by, you know, everyone just uploading Youtube videos just because they can and it's cheap to do so.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

This decision might sound premature, but it's honestly a coin toss, there's a lot of money at stake for the ESA and its partners and there's no guarantee that the virus is going to be effectively contained in the States and more specifically in Southern California by June.

By taking this decision they don't take any risks and they get the opportunity to experiment with digital formats. For that reason, it's not that bad of a result.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Welp.. I'm definitely shelling out for a game or 2 on Amazon now that I have all this extra money to burn that would have been used for E3 :/

I don't know if anyone's seen this yet, but MS is doing a digital event:

A very quick response. MS is handling this very well.

The publishers probably already knew this for weeks, and thus had more than enough time to react.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Imagine companies noticing after this that they actually don't really need an E3 presence to sell games.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I think it’s more then that. Collectively all the developers that gather have greater exposure on them as opposed to each one doing an individual announcement reveal. Most gamers aren’t glued to every little bit of industry news. But E3 has always managed to have more mainstream outreach.

Like I only care about the MS conference but I end up finding about so much more from other devs just because there’s so much news all at once.

Seriously, fuck the CCP. It's annoying how it only takes a few incompetent ignorant dumbasses to screw things up for everyone.
