Marvel envisioned what one of their IP could sell if it was done in the manner of Sony 1st party games by Sony themselves rather than the usual tie in formula so offered Sony a choice of IP and we know the rest and that success pretty much means Spiderman games are Insomniacs plaything till the day they  feel ill used and talk Sony into letting them go while signing a twenty year deal for a game called What's My Destiny Again ?, but don't despair Sony will created 686 studios with people from Insomniac ok the janitor from Insomniac.

Sarcasm? I can't actually tell. 5 years 9 months is a really weird number.

I am actually serious. I had to find an article covering it. Sony actually has the rights for over 80 marvel characters as long as they release a movie every 5yrs and 9 months lol. Spiderman, Venom...etc

Sony doesn't make anywhere near that much in that scenario.  There are a lot of other people that take a cut of that money.  See the link I posted in a comment about 10-15 comments back for a decent explanation of where the money goes from the sale of a game.
