7- Birdman (2014)
6- Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)

4- Jojo Rabbit (2019)
3- Grand Hotel Budapest (2014)
2- Mad Max Fury Road (2015)
1-Whiplash(2014)

2014 best year

These are all my favorites - and the most memorable for me - I dont know If I'd think of them as "the best" If I was judging from a more technical perspective.
All the same Im not so sure about that top 10, I feel I left some important movies out, I might edit later... or not, its hard to make a top10 of this.

By year
2010: the social network
2011: we need to talk about Kevin
2012: the hunt
2013: inside llewyn Davis
2014: whiplash
2015: mad max fury road
2016: arrival
2017: john wick chapter 2
2018: Mandy
2019: The lighthouse

Might comeback and do a top 10, need to think about it more.

In no particular order cos I find it too hard to do rankings:

Dunkirk

Pacific Rim

Godzilla (2014)

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Mad Max: Fury Road

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Inception

The Wolf of Wall Street

Oblivion

Edge of Tomorrow

Interesting exercise. Teaches me that, man, I really didn't care for many movies over this last decade. Still haven't seen some of the current Best Picture noms, like Knives Out, so my list might change over time and as I see more.

Also interesting to see Whiplash on so many lists (and so high on my own); I think maybe that one will last...

2010 - Toy Story 3
2011 - Kumare
2012 - The Avengers
2013 - Fruitvale Station
2014 - Whiplash
2015 - Room
2016 - The Founder
2017 - Coco
2018 - Bohemian Rhapsody
2019 - Marriage Story

1) Toy Story 3
2) The Avengers
3) Whiplash
4) Marriage Story
5) Coco
6) The Social Network
7) Guardians of the Galaxy
8) Tangled
9) Black Swan
10) The Irishman

Edited to add: I'm haunted with having placed The Irishman at #10. It was a fine film, a good film, I enjoyed it. But that's about it. I didn't love it. Any of the others mentioned, like Room or Bohemian Rhapsody could easily be slotted there instead, or any number of other movies, like The Artist or The Favourite. Lots of technically sound, entertaining cinema that I will never recommend to anyone else and never watch again.

Honestly, my top ten list should cut off at about #8, and the movies that I really love don't start until #5. Here's hoping that I find more in the 2020s!

WARNING!! List contains a severely high amount of high-budget superhero blockbusters.

2013 - The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug*

* Sorry, I really haven't watched many movies from 2013.

The Hobbit is great though. Sure it adds a lot that wasn’t in the book and it’s not as amazingly done as Lord of the Rings itself, I’d say they’re definitely worthy prequels. More than a certain series’ recent sequels anyway.

EDIT: Also saw the extended editions of those for the first time finally late last year, I’d say those are mandatory.

Somewhat of a weak decade in films for me overall, so tough to cobble together a list as few really jump out off the bat. A lot of my favorite franchises (Star Wars, LOTR/Hobbit, Matrix, Bond, etc were weak or non existant this decade). Not too keen on the superhero craze which dominated this past decade. Love comedies and not a ton of great ones on that front. Strong on the thriller/horror front though.

Going year by year (or even giving them an order in greatness) is too detailed for me, but here's my list. Probably forgetting a few key ones but off the top of my head, in no particular order:

- Moneyball
- This is the End
- Krampus
- The Invitation
- Argo
- The Disaster Artist (book/audiobook is actually a lot better but still really enjoy just the whole narrative, & Franco nails it as Tommy)
- The Witch
- The Boy
- Calibre
- Ex Machina

Honorable mentions:

- Ghost Story (definitely NOT what you think)
- The Lighthouse
- Mad Max
- Get Out

Edit/update (see I knew I'd forget some! This is too tough ha. These are still pretty much honorable mentions though anyway):

- The Hunger Games
- Train To Busan
- Hereditary

Christopher Nolan.

I found this decade mixed for Nolan. I consider inception and Dunkirk to be among his best and DKR and interstellar to be his worst.
