Vg chartz has it at 48.8m at the end of 2019. Even if you look at statistically, over 48m is anything from 48.00...1 to 48.9999..., so it's more likely to be under 4m than at or over.

You going with vgchartz number? If its closer to 49 million nintendo would and should announced over 48.5 million. Im assuming its under 48.5 million sold.

Like when they did so with the wii that was at .8m?

Yes nintendo announced over 48 million sold by 31st of December 2019. Vgchartz then adjusted down by 1.5 million. Vgchartz still has switch sold 48.8 million by end of December which is most unlikely

Thanks!, I didn't knew this.... So it's like last year when they said the same "more than 29M" and i was discussing here with some people that this didn't mean the console sold 29'9M, so yeah the console could be perfectly around 48'5M. That means almost 4M units on shelves....lol.

I'm going to say it, please Nintendo fans, don't get mad at me, i'm just being honest: I'm as disappointed at that "low" number as i'm disappointed at myself with missing the correct number i predicted by more than 1M...yikes. And this is with Switch Lite shipping 5M during 2019 at 100$ less than the normal Switch. Without Switch Lite, Switch would had trouble even reaching 18M units sold.....mmmm. Surprising...

That puts into perspective how great is that PS4 still sold almost 14'5M to consumers in 2019 in its 6th year of life, and at the same price as the last few years.

My my. The switch was confortably up without the switch lite, which isn't even that popular. And that puts no perspective on ps4 sales, being two unrelated subjects.

Just wait another year or two, 4K will be even cheaper

How expensive are they where you're from. I'm from Chicago and I bought my 50-ish inch (I want to say 55, but I'm really not sure) for around $300 almost a year ago. They seem to have already reached the point where they are sold for very cheap. If a few years go by and Leynos still hasn't gotten one, maybe wait for 8k, I would think.

Of course there are a lot cheaper option nowadays but it only limited to some model and brand.  Future model will have more choice with better tech and more capabilities. I am waiting for 4k with VRSS and better lag input.

Switch Lite ships 5M during 2019 at 100$ less and you sell only 2'5-3M more to consumers than the year before?? when everybody here was expecting to surpass 20M??, including me. You know that the last 2 or 3 months of the year are the ones really important to Nintendo consoles right?, Switch being 20% up compared to a disappointing first 9 months of 2018 was nothing to brag about. The reality is that if Switch sold 19M in 2019, it means it did around the same or worse than the last 3 months of 2018..., which i find disappointing.

"My my" indeed...

And lol about "two unrelated subjects"......Both are gaming consoles selling at comparative prices, being one twice as old as the other....but ey..., i already asked Nintendo fans to not be upset about my impressions, i won't insist anymore....

Still that doesnt mean switch is at 48.8 million sold. Im still assuming its at around 48.5 so thats very close to 4 million on shelves. It could be over 4 million on shelves as well and we dont know that

Already off to a bad start when talking about shipped as if they were sold through. Regular switch sales would have been higher in the absense of the lite (not a 1:1 ratio but still).

Just like the disappointing 2016 sales when the Slim & Pro models couldnt take PS4 over 17.5 million sold, only 100k higher than 2015.

If you're going to assume, don't make afirmative claims. You afirmed over 4m on shelves. And those few 100k don't matter in the slightest for the original discussion (that didn't even mention the switch, mind you).

Not even close to 1:1, and no, i was not comparing shipped vs sold through. I said that Lite shipped 5M, so it should have sold to consumers, what?, 3M?, 4M? that means 15-16M units sold of regular Switch. Without Lite, how much more could have sold at 300$??, 2M-3M more??..., So yeah, there you have it, "fighting" to reach 18M units sold to consumers like i said....

PS4 2016 was kind of disappointing yes, but you're comparing a console 100$ more expensive against one 100$ cheaper, and PS4 Pro did not shipped 5M in 2016 like Switch Lite did in 2019. So yeah...., both were kind of disappointing but i feel Switch in 2019 has been more disapponting that PS4 in 2016, because how many people did expect around 19M in 2019 in the end???, Come on people, don't act as this is not a surprising (disappointing) number....

And how would you know its not over 4 million on shelves? Dont make claims if you cant prove it to be true or not
