Probably won't see it until E3 2021 and that might be for the best (for Xbox), I think if it's revealed again before the acquisition closes it will be multiplatform.

There is no logic here. Bethesda is already in process of being acquired. The decision on whether Starfield multiplatform or not is most likely already made or will be made in the next couple of months. Doesn't matter when they show it again - E3 2021 or earlier - it won't change the platforms it will be developed for.

There's no obligation to release it on those platforms. They might have already dropped them and moved those people to other teams.

EDIT: re-reading your post, I think you're actually agreeing with me.

I also don't remember the last time Bethesda announced their games NOT at E3. So, I would expect it to be there even though I doubt it will make it in 2021 because of COVID.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. This is definitely a point of discussion between two companies. That's already a fact that Zenimax is being bought out by Microsoft and nothing's gonna change this because otherwise it wouldn't have been announced. It's a done deal. So, I guess it's safe to say that Zenimax is already dependent on Microsoft's decision about the platforms they should put their games on.

Only 5 days for me to go.

But it isn't cause the deal hasn't closed. As Phil said it is currently illegal for him to say anything about it.

My point is more, Microsoft doesn't need to negotiate both exclusivity contracts and acquisition sale - Because once Microsoft owns Bethesda, it is only Xbox's decision to make and Zenimax is Private, Microsoft is buying a company off people, they don't care whether the games are multiplatform or not because they are cashing out and will have nothing to do with Zenimax after the acquisition.

So theoretically Zenimax could still reveal Starfield before the deal closes as a multiplatform unless Microsoft is negotiating Starfield exclusivity separately or have blocked its reveal as part of the acquisition process and then once the deal closes, Xbox cancels the PS5 port (though I wonder how the development teams would feel about having all their work tossed in the trash...)

Yes, he publicly can't comment on Bethesda games exclusivity status, but he can tell Zenimax internally to cancel PS5 port already if they don't intend to release it. That's what I'm talking about. Zenimax already knows MS plans about releasing games on Playstation or not despite the deal not being closed. I would even go as far as to say that it was definitely discussed prior to the acquistion because Zenimax of course brought this question up when talks happened.

Fiscal Year 2021 is July 2020 - July 2021.

Second half would be 50% in that so that would start in January 2021.

Ok, I guess MS fiscal years are different from most that I am used to, most I know of run from April-March instead of from July-June.

Here's hoping that deal closes early in the 2nd half, like February or March, I want them acquired and the exclusivity decision long since made by the time they do the gameplay reveal for Starfield at E3.

MS fiscal years end in July if I'm not mistaken

Sadly Amazon still hasn't updated my order, still says they will send an estimated arrival date when the console ships.

Mine was just a couple of minutes before I posted it.  Hopefully yours is soon.

When I checked my bank account yesterday, the MS Store charged me for my Series X, but it's not there today. Ugh why?
