Played it for half an hour and thus far it feels like a pretty average indie game. Already dislike the level design.

How can you possibly have a good understanding of the game after 30 min? Lol

Who said I have?

I just expect a GOTY contender like that (in every other year it wouldn't be) to wow me instantly and not leave me with a feeling where I don't know whether even to continue it or not.

The combat seems standard but I know there's more to unlock later on.

The levels seem needlessly complicated with multiple paths everywhere that either lead to pick ups (which is fine) end in a dead end (waste of time) or circle around. Then there's next to nothing that helps you with orientation, for example landmarks. That's really not so bad in a linear game but when you have to backtrack to open a previously locked door or need to buy some upgrades from the shop it would be very helpful to have them. But hey maybe that's just The Lost Cemetery and the other levels are better.

As for the enemies scattered around the level, what's the point? You can easily avoid them and you gain no experience from defeating them, only a measly 2 souls which feels like the equivalent of 2 MS Reward points aka nothing.

I'm not a fan of fighting waves of enemies (literally) either.

Beat FC 4! Story to me was much weaker than 3 and the villain in a step down too imo. Think I got the bad ending, cause I sided with Amira the whole time, killed villain, and she pretty much became a new Pagan. Overall, I probably like 4 better because of the gameplay, but 3 had a much more focused story and way stronger villain.

Pretty much my thoughts too. 4 was a better game thanks to QoL improvements and better gameplay, but 3 had a better story and villain than 4, though on the downside

Spoiler!
you lose Vaas 2/3rds of the way through and get a new villain who is nowhere near as good for the 2nd island.

This is my current ranking for the series:

Blood Dragon > 4 > 3 > Primal > 6 > 5. Not quite done with 6 yet, probably will take today and tomorrow to finish it, but that is where I rank it based on what I played of 6 so far. Only Far Cry since 3 that I haven't played is New Dawn, skipped it since it was a sequel to 5 and I didn't really like 5 very much.

Agreed on your spoiler, dude seriously might be one of the best video game villains. Would be cool to know other people's best villains in games too. A lot of the recent games I've played have had very forgettable villains sadly. I picked up Primal, and bought 5, New Dawn, and I'll wait for 6 when it's like $20. No rush to play that right now.

Ryuu's a big far cry fan and he didn't even play New Dawn. Must be like Judgment is to Gears

Got to also love these trash co op cheevos in primarily single player games. On the plus side, you only need a fraction of total collectibles and not all of them. Although, I'm sure that will change

Does Far Cry ever get bosses better? Least this one wasn't a QTE fest, but they overused the drug and hallucination shit.

New Dawn is basically more of Far Cry 5 with small changes. If Judgment was just more of Gears 3 I would love it but alas the campaign is trash.

I feel like if something is called, The lost Cemetery, should be explanation for what they are going for.

When has early enemy encounters in any game ever given you something worthwhile? They are there to learn the basics.

I just feel like you're being a bit too critically of a game you've barely put time into but you do you.

uhm in pretty much every game? Even early enemies can give you XP to level up, drop items you can use (ammo, equipment or keys), drop a decent amount of gold to buy early stuff and so on.

Here they drop two souls which is the equivalent of .5% of the cost of an upgrade or in other words you need to kill 200 of them for one upgrade.

And as I've already mentioned they can be avoided easily and thus pose no threat. Why have them scattered around everywhere when they serve no purpose?

Lmao Crossfire flop not even gonna be on game pass? Xbox needs to throw some money at some 3rd party games to be put on GP day one. Sad.

Crossfire X has flop written all over it, releases in 12 days and absolutely zero marketing from Xbox, Remedy or Smilegate, Lol.

Might have to dip my score prediction down.

It’s going to flop in the west and not get good review score but that’s about it, for those who don’t know this game is likely to be one of the most profitable FPS games ever.

FYI the original CrossFire is a crappy Korean CounterStrike clone that took off in Asia and became massive. CrossFire X has a budget of somewhere between 80-100 million and some Chinese company paid Smilegate 500 million to host it in China and that doesn’t even include royalties so the game if already profitable many times over before it even released.

Oh no

Everything aside from Cortana looks great visually, the more I look at Cortana's design the more I hate it.

Imagine having all this iconic Halo music too and using that generic ass song on the trailer.

And the story leaks are confirmed, a human villain raised by Covenant, how f*cking awful, Lol. Why do the Covenant need a human ally, ugh, it's so dumb...We're going to get a bunch of human drama and Chief's gonna avoid killing the human and instead try to save her and she's gonna be like "The Covenant are good! They raised me! They took me in when nobody else did! Sure they're trying to make the human race extinct and were responsible for glassing my planet but they're nice"

Hype for the writing and story is back to zero.

Should have had Arbiter instead of the human as the villain but it's typical "we've got to make the villain sympathetic" storytelling, can't just have a bad guy who needs killing, Lol. Well, that and, they can't afford to make Covenant the villains 24/7 I'm assuming.

It's probably more so that focusing purely on a primary Covenant antagonist means you gotta be even more CGI intensive in an already very CGI intensive production. Not only will you need to give more screen time to some CGI alien, but you're going to have to make them emote a whole lot more than what's required of some standard battle scene. A human antagonist is an easy out.

But yea...I'm not loving any of that. And Cortana looks flat out awful.
