Tencent acquires 22% of Bloober Team and becomes it’s biggest shareholder. https://polskigamedev-pl.translate.goog/tencent-najwiekszym-akcjonariuszem-bloober-team/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=es&_x_tr_pto=nui
Idk what their end goal is really, they have said that they will be hands off but how long will that last really? They also own over 20% of Dontnod and are the second biggest shareholder there, both these studios were rumored targets of MS a while back.

Something else to note, he mentioned Kenji Kimura as being the director of Ghostwire Tokyo, John Johanas as working on a new game (already posted) but he also said "Otherwise, Tango is trying out new genres for a game that is not too big with a new director" so I guess that confirms that Tango has 3 games in development, I'm assuming John's will be in the Horror genre but the 3rd is a genre they've not done before? Also Mikami is yet to confirm his return to directing, I do hope he gets to make his dream project one day. |
If he wants to foster new talent and give them a chance then imo MS should get him to build new studios in Japan and recruit talent.

Weird seeing Xbox get this ultra niche JRPG games, but not like games from Persona, or Ys. |
It's just marvelous and MS getting all buddy as of late.
MS Japan invested quite a bit into the marvelous indie program, marvelous started hiring for xbox development..
It's no surprise we start seeing their west publishing arm announcing xbox ports, like story of seasons, rune factory, now this one.
My wierd take, I think there is a high possibility of Halo reaching greatness for the 1st time since Halo Reach if 343 nails the campaign. This will easily be the most exciting Xbox exclusive since Gears 3.
Last edited by smroadkill15 - on 08 October 2021Would you approve if first party studio wanted to work on third party IP while keeping the game exclusive to Xbox and PC?
Obsidian doing Star Wars RPG?
Rare or Playground working on Harry Potter Action Adventure game?
Initiative developing Splinter Cell?
Ninja Theory reviving Onimusha?
What if this game is being published by the owner of the IP? What if the publisher is against launching it on GamePass day 1?

Would I be ok with it? Sure, there are tons of great third party IP that would make for cool games if done right, and as a consumer, that's really the only thing I care about...getting cool games.
I don't know how much MS would really be into the idea, because they're running a business where it really really behooves you to own the IP you're putting forth for consumption.
And no, I would definitely not be cool with MS studios working on games that wouldn't be able to launch day 1 into GP.

If it’s exclusive then I would have no problem, MS will likely never make a deal where their 1st party studio is developing a game that won’t be on Gamepass since it goes against their expansion plans.

He didn't exactly say that 30% of their games were announced. He gave a very rough estimate, based on both what he does, and doesn't exactly know. It's by no means an exact figure, and he did re-iterate that there are many things he is in fact not in the know on, such as Bethesda Projects, and other things he's only heard about from others (and should be considered unverified).
