Why are people assuming that we are suggesting that MS go out and buy studios to counter a good show by Sony? No one here is saying that at all and honestly I'm more upset at the type of exclusive deals that Sony after getting and just want MS to be more aggressive in that front although I'm taking about 2nd Party not Timed Exclusives like RotTR deal that was a waste of money.

Battletoads/ Tell Me Why/ As Dusk Falls aren't going to move the needle whatsoever and the Avalanche, IOI (not yet confirmed that it's XGS btw) and Kojima deals only seem to have been made recently.

While I would certainly be OK with MS going out and buying some studios to counter what Sony has been doing, I also agree that MS needs more big 2nd party exclusives, especially of the singleplayer variety. I mean look at the AAA 2nd party deals we have heard about so far, Contraband: Co-op, Project Dragon- Multiplayer, CrossFireX- Singleplayer and Multiplayer but the main focus is the Multiplayer. And that is on top of a good many of their 1st party games being Multiplayer or co-op focused, like Redfall and State of Decay 3.

MS needs to get some more big singleplayer games in development through 2nd party. 2nd party JP games would be nice as well, it's downright criminal that Phil/Peter doesn't seem likely to have gone out and gotten us this generation's Scalebound yet, go out and make that deal and then this time make sure that it doesn't get cancelled like Scalebound was.

More studios will come eventually as MS have stated more than once that they are still looking for more to buy, the only reason I have brought it up in this forum is because other corporations have made big moves in the past few months and the Well seems to be drying up for potential targets for MS to get. Who knows maybe they are working on something big.

XGS had so much time to try to get AAA 2nd party exclusives and Contraband likely has a 2023 release date. Also is CrossFire X an actual real exclusive or is it only timed? I know that it's being published by Xbox

Sony's Marvel deal pisses me off more than anything, with Wolverine that's the 3rd Mravel exclusive game that Playstation has gotten and who knows if it will stop there. Indiana Jones better be a full exclusive now and I hope that MS manages to get Star Wars exclusives like it was rumored.

Havent watched the presentation yet, but based on what was shown and reactions, it seemed like it was a decent show with some bangers at the end, but not mind blowing and definitely overhyped. Anyone saying Xbox needs to respond to this is being silly. Xbox has almost 3 times as many 1st party exclusives announced than Sony so whatever. Xbox lineup>>Sony lineup by a good margin.

Idk why people think Xbox needs to acquire more companies. They very recently got the entirety of zenimax. Timed exclusives suck for xbox fans but I dont know why the response isnt for Xbox to get more timed exclusives but instead buy out entire companies and completely lock out entire franchises from Sony & Nintendo forever

Yep, I'm satisfied with MS's current stable of devs. They should just go with timed exclusives like Sony is doing. Although it seems Phil is against doing that due to the backlash ever since the Tomb Raider fiasco.

Tell me then if they didn’t buy them where would MS today? Yeah it was a great investment we can all agree there is no argument there but what would have been the plan if it failed to go through?

You might not think that it’s a big deal that Sony has some Timed exclusives but it is and it negatively impacts Xbox and their image.

It’s been 3 years since the expansion started and like I said we don’t have any results yet other than CGI trailers. I’m most disappointed in XGP more than anything.

Well, there were rumours that they were looking into acquiring WBIE at the same time as Bethesda, God knows who else, cause, these kinds of rumours are the hardest to pinpoint, this stuff happens at the very top of the chain of command so it's difficult to say for sure.

However, I SERIOUSLY doubt that if Bethesda somehow fell through, Microsoft didn't have a backup plan, they're likely talking to dozens of studios and even publishers constantly about the potential of future acquisitions.

3 years isn't long at all for games, most established franchises alone take 3-4 years (AAA), New IPs take even longer, then you throw in COVID which knocked about a year or two off a lot of games, and please don't say it didn't affect Sony as some do cause Sony delayed quite a few titles But Sony's 1st party didn't have to be completely revamped so they had a lot of backup and studios meeting prior commitments.

If we're panicking over 'rumours' for titles years out then here's what is apparently Microsoft's internal line-up according to Jeff Grubb.

Summer-Holiday for 2021 have been great, early 2022 will be dry but we always knew that...Holiday 2022 will be massive, 2023 will be insane, a dry early 21 won't be too devastating, Lol.

Aren't STALKER 2 and Redfaĺl planned for first half of 2022?

Crossfire most likely will be delayed to 2022.

I think Forza Motorsport will be released next year. Even if that wasn't the plan they might expedite the process to counter GT7.

I think Hellblade 2 and/or Stated of Decay 3 will be released next year.

Crossfire X

STALKER

Redfall

Forza Motorsport

Hellblade 2

Starfield

If this end up being true, I wouldn't call it light or dry year. Especially since it is a year promising to be very strong from 3rd party multiplats.

Let's wait until The Game Awards later this year to know more about the road map of 2022.

Zero Chance that happens and the best you can hope for is Project Mara but that isn't a AAA game and Forza Motorsport would be expected but who knows. And let's be Honest with ourselves if MS has a surprise for 2022 it would have leaked by now.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Need to get more posts huh...

I want MS to buy another dev/publisher. With game pass increasing in numbers, I feel like they will eventually have to increase the price of the service. Buy up another studio and or publisher to help with even more games come 2024/25. Plus they still need to round off the edges with genres; fighting, 3rd person adventure, etc.

@Shika I asked some dick about Project Eve but he never responded, is that game coming to Xbox? That was my most anticipated game shown. Day one cop.

I also expressed some interest in that game earlier in another thread.

Apparently when it was first announced in 2019, Project EVE was multiplat PS4/Xbox One. And then in 2020, they showed some new screenshots and the press release said it had moved to PS5/Xbox Series, dropping the last gen versions. Hopefully it is still multiplat and Sony didn't timed hat it for PS5.

OH ok, can easily see it being timed, but hopefully we hear more about it in the AM or next week.

I hope Bioshock will be timed-exclusive, otherwise it'll hurt. Rest of the moneyhat shit Sony's pulling is quite laughable to me, really. And more Marvel garbage I have zero interest in. Xbox lineup looking much more exciting.

Btw Psychonauts 2 is awesome! Never played the original so I didn't know what to expect.
