Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy 7 Remake timed exclusivity period announced, 1 year timed

Putting it on the box art like that, down to the specific date is a bit surprising.

Wel, if anthing is just to increase that FOMO, and by the looks of it, you can tell it's going to be somewhat effective.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Before trying to talk me down better understand what is being discussed.

We know since reveal that it would be timed exclusive to PS4 (by the "first on playstion 4"). And he is saying there is no meat to say it won't appear on Xbox after the timed exclusive period, because there is no formal confirmation, just speculation. Some suspect it will only appear on PC after time exclusive period ends, others say it will show in more platforms. There is nothing that confirm one or another, we just know it will appear in other platforms after 1 year, not which they are.

It is already confirmed one year of exclusivity for Sony. After that it will come to Ms consoles or PC. Unless you redefine the meaning of timed exclusive.

We know that. What we are discussing, I'll try again to explain to you, is where it will appear after that. Will it be PC, Xbox or both? Some think only PC, and Ludicrous was asking if there were any source showing that it wouldn't release for Xbox and that for it to happen Sony would have to pay more than just for the timed exclusive (so it would both be timed exclusive and permanent console exclusive let's say).

This type of question was made on the case of MHW where some Nintendo fans were accusing Sony of paying for the game to not release only on Switch.

The way it was revealed on the E3 both it and Shenmue 3 had the tone of showing first on PS4 then on PC and nothing else.

And if you read to what I was answering the core is that we new it wasn't permanent full exclusive. And that his rant on Sony doesn't make sense in this thread as the condition of the exclusivity not being full have always been know and isn't something of this past year (that is when he started complaining of changes Sony have been implementing with censorship and SJW behavior).

I agree that it was widely known as not a PS4 exclusive. Just curious about the “high chance of only a PC port”. There’s no meat on that bone, just an assumption people are apparently making. Unless Sony paid them a lot of money, why would they pass up the Xbox user base?

Hey man, Chazore posted this on another thread.

So perhaps that is where some people were thinking it would be still full exclusive or console exclusive even after timed period is over.

But we know now that it is not PS4 exclusive. As you said, we knew all along it was timed exclusive. But you said “with great chance only PC receives a port”. There’s nothing that backs that up. Your links don’t help that theory.

Those links act as if it was fully exclusive, which is even oddier than anything else.
