"There are many people who love the Switch here in CD PROJEKT RED and we really wanted to start working with Nintendo on something. They gave us their full support from the start, and now here we are."

"You are one of the first major games to use a 32GB cartridge for retail distribution. Why did you choose to do this, and not go the download route every other game on the market does?"
A:
"That decision comes from our philosophy to always provide players with the best possible experience. We believe the physical version should allow immediate play, with no additional downloads needed. Portability is one of the biggest advantages of the Switch, so we wanted to make sure players are not limited by anything, including internet access."

Q:
"How much help did you get from Nintendo as part of this porting process?"
A:
"Nintendo has been of great help to us since the very beginning. During development we had an open line with both their business and engineering teams, so we could get immediate support as and when needed. No one who knows this console better than platform engineers, so we’re very grateful we could work together with them on profiling and optimization."

Q:
"What would you say was the biggest challenge in terms of porting the game?"
A:
"The port as a whole was a pretty big challenge, as we never expected to bring The Witcher 3 to a new platform aside of PC, PS4 and Xbox One. We had to optimize almost every system — and recreate some of them from scratch — to make sure we could fit. Memory consumption is a good example of this, as we had to reduce it almost by half."

This sounds like a very expensive port, relatively speaking. I hope they see a nice profit. This is still a business and ROI is important. You want to see developers rewarded for moves that benefit the consumer.



Almost wish I didn't already have the game so i could justify the purchase on the Switch. Alas I got it for a steal so I regrettably won't be lending my support.

I for one made sure to support them by purchasing day one, as this is the sort of thing I'd like to see more of.

I will not have time to play it till after Pokemon, but I already have my copy.  I wanted to show my support out of the gate.

Loved the game on PS4, can't wait to play it again with different choices on Switch!

And yes I find it strange that even BD games that had enough space for the trilogy then they go and make you download 1 of the 3 games for whatever reason (some come with a code so you can only download once so buying second hand would be bad for you).

I have not purchased this game yet, but it is currently #2 on my list of "Games I plan to purchase when I am ready to play them."
Number 1 is Dragon Quest 11.
Then Number 3 is Fire Emblem.

Animal Crossing and Breath of the Wild 2 could get in the way of the list if they come out before I finish up all of the adventure/RPG games I am currently working on. Kind of like Ring Fit Adventure just did.



I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Also nice to hear that Nintendo was very helpful and supportive during the game's development; they used to have a not-so-good rep in this department, so good to know they're improving in terms of working with third parties.
