Forums - Sales Discussion - So.. CNBC says Xbox has sold 46.9 WW, any thoughts?

Today, Microsoft still struggles to sell consoles in Japan. Of the 46.9 million Xbox Ones sold worldwide through the second quarter of 2019, just 0.3% of them have been in Japan, according to the International Data Corporation.

According to Famitsu. XBOX ONE sold 108,000 in Japan (as of September 2019.)

108,000 ÷ 0,003 = 36,000,000

Yeah that doesn't add up as it puts them 10m below what they've claimed is the total.

Idk what the number is but I bet most of the people here know more than the insiders and analysts, they should have just posted a poll here on the forum for their source.

The Switch is at 38 million at the moment why are you so sure that they will reach 100 million? i think after the release of xbox scarlett and ps5 switch sales will drop alot.

sorry for double post!

Why would they drop? Because the Switch won't get the big AAA third-party games? It already doesn't get them and it sells without them.

Only because noboby will talk about the switch then anymore

sounds way more believable.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

It is natural to sell less cause MS approach is put their games on console, PC and xCloud on day 1.

Famitsu‘s numbers are also just estimates. And the 0.3% can be anything from 0.25 to 0.34999999 percent, if it is rounded to one digit.

for example: 110,000 / 0.25% are 44 million

So poor sales, everyone knows that already.

That's a terrible argument. Switch having a great 2017/2018 didnt prevent PS4 from having its 2 best years which shows that the 2 ecosystems can coexist very well without harming the others sales.

Also 3DS has sold like an additional 40 million after PS4/XBO released so there really is nothing that should cause anybody to think Switch will all of a sudden stop selling once PS5/XB4 release.

Yet their estimates are more trust worthy than an article that said 45m last year and 46m this year.

It is expected. MS will put their games on Console, PC and xCloud on day 1, so the player can choose where he wants to play. I predict in the next 10 years cloud gaming on mobile growth will be as big as mobile gaming in the past 10 years.
