I just read that the last time it happened was 2014, and that it caused consumers to rush out and buy things right before the tax hike, and then held back afterwards. Purchasing a game console is a fairly large expense, so maybe the effect is greater in a market like this.

Yea I saw that too. Truthfully that is one reason why I do think sales are higher than expected. If the switch can keep like 100k next week then things will be super good going into the holiday 

Japan treating DQ11 like a brand new game, and yeah hardware numbers will be interesting next week with 10% tax going into effect. Welcome to Los Angeles lol

Wow that is a lot of hardware sold.  I was shocked that the main version of the Switch sold better than the Lite until Rol said that there was a bundle.  Obviously that DQ XI bundle did the trick.  Looks like the sort of thing a hardcore DQ fan would love.
