Forums - Gaming Discussion - Yu Suzuki says he could return to Virtua Fighter and Out Run

I would love a brand new Virtua Fighter, but back to the origin, like a new Virtua Fighter2 on roids.

The issue Shenmue 3 so face is how far Yakuza series has come. It might not have quests as in depth as Shenmue, but combat and variety of quests will be compared.

Virtua Fighter never got the traction that Tekken did since it was slower and far more technical. It would be nice to see though start direction he takes it in.

A new outrun would be nice as long as it ain't open world.

It's a shame he isn't thinking about Space Harrier, considering the tech available now, he could make it like Rez Infinite where you can play on the TV or VR. Space Harrier was beyond its time.

Well If Shenmue 3 gets really good there is always the possibility Sony decides to purchase YS Net and have him make some new arcadey game for PS5.

They don't need to buy Ys Net to get an arcade style game.

Of course not, but they can anyway.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Would love to see Virtua Fighter 6.

I have always respected yu Suzuki, I am not the biggest shenmue fan but I hope his new game turns out atleast decent.
Sega should do with their others franchises what they did with sonic mania, find talented people who love their old games and let do their thing. New gun star heroes or shinobi would be awesome.

Im more talking about the last big game Suzuki helmed being Virtua Fighter 4... waaay back in 2000; almost 20 years ago. Does he have what it takes to make modern games?

Oh, Shenmue 3 is gonna be his biggest game ever. The new trailer was actually much more impressive than I expected.

I'm very confident he could handle a new Virtua Fighter. The gameplay of VF5 still holds up really well as, simply building on that would be a good start. If anything the series just needs more personality like Tekken. The gameplay of Tekken has changed much but the story stuff, endings and other unlockables had me hooked on Tekken 7.

Yeah.  The problem with virtua fighter, from what I hear, is story and presentation.  Tekken 7 itself, doesn't play like older tekken games, though.  You go back to tekken 5 and you have no combo extenders and grab breaks are more specific and you have no invincibility on forward rolls, no rage, no rage art, or rage drives.

But, I've been waiting for a new virtua fighter game for so long.  We have new MK, street fighter, tekken, guilty gear, etc, since VF5:FS... but no virtua fighter...

Studios capable of making cool arcade-ish games were shut down. I dont think randomly buying studios is the goal.
