Funfact: The previous highest opening for Pro Baseball Spirits on a single platform was just under 110k.

And there haven't been a massive explosion of baseball movies or anything to expand the potential audience.

Funfact: MUA3 was exclusive on 1 platform only, lol

Exactly. That means that its sales are not split between platforms. And yet despite the massive popularity of Marvel superheroes in Japan (over $50 million at the Japanese box office for End Game, the third highest grossing film of 2019 thus far) along with Nintendo publishing the game, it managed 10k sales in the first week. If that's something to be happy about, then by all means, boast away.

Chris1964 from ResetEra Famitsu Game Data Library can really counteract a lot of nonsense on here.

https://sites.google.com/site/gamedatalibrary/home

As for Megiddo, if you just take the Famitsu top 100 for the first six months of 2019 the PS4 stands at roughly 3.367M games sold while the switch is at 1.842M, of games released in 2019, which he outlined. If you strip out first party, it gets more lopsided in Sony's favor.  Add the subsequent weeks and you get around the number he posted.

Apparently the link really helps to counteract the nonsense. It explains why Megiddo moved the goalposts for software sales in 2019 right away. Hilarious how you went a step further by suggesting that first party game sales should be removed too.

We haven't had to play such silly games for a while because the frog is gone.

I guess going off topic means that you agree with Megiddo and can't find any data to say otherwise.  Its hard to move a stationary goalpost, he said for games released this year, total sales, the PS4 is winning.  Why do you seem to be triggered by this?

ok, now strip out games that did not release in 2019.  New games for 2019 does not mean games carried over from last year.

Nice moving goal post, the second half of this year, ps4 software sales will be left to dust lmao

kettle calling the pot black is not even appropriate for this as Megiddo didn't move anything, but you sure did...second half of the year...make sure you hold on to that goalpost tightly buddy, I'm sure its heavy.

The last game release of Pro Baseball Spirits was released in 2015 and that was for PS3/Vita. I'm sure there was some built up demand after all of these years. Lately there has only been the smartphone version of the game, Pro Baseball Spirits Ace.

I bought PBS 2019 for my PS4 Pro. The last version of the game I owned was PBS 2014 for the PSP!

Maybe people bought MUA3 the digital version? I bought the digital version myself. As the game is published by Nintendo it is also part of Nintendo's special for Nintendo Online members. You can buy two tickets (redeemable for 1 Nintendo game each) for 9980 yen. (plus you get about 500 yen worth of gold points back). Compared to the normal price of about 7500 yen with tax, it is a great deal getting it at about 5000 yen for the digital version. I picked up MUA3 and the new Fire Emblem game (both digital versions) with my two tickets.

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

MUA got no advertising in japan, and it didn’t even get a dub. This game is aimed towards the west

Nintendo is a master of managing their own budget. If Zelda BoTW only need to sell 2 mil to be a success then no reason they would spend more for this game and Japan sales of this game is meaningless anyway. Just like Disgaea 5 on Switch, it sold even much worse in Japan but in the West, it managed to sell over 200.000 units.

Butthurt much? 2019 hasn't ended yet, if you really want to compare the software sales of this year, why don't you wait till the end of this year? Or you can't? Heh

Pokemon will push a lot of units. The switch will pass the Xbox in the next 12 months.

Super Mario Odyssey is so close to 2 million physical. Kingdom Hearts III not in the top 30 anymore

No 3DS game in the top 30?

Yeah, the 3DS is slowly moving to life support even in Japan.

Just looking at those extended charts helps me appreciate how much Smash Bros has become the king of the mountain in Japan.  It's already passed Splatoon 2 and is still selling about twice as much per week.

The real question is, "Is there another game coming out soon that can surpass Smash Bros total?"  How about DQ 11S?  Or Pokemon Sword/Shield?  Or maybe Smash Bros will stay on top?  This latest Smash Bros is selling far beyond what previous entries were doing.
