And yet the non-portable PS4 outsold the portable Vita there.

If japan isnt portable crazy then why couldnt nintendo home consoles sell as well as their handhelds?

But if they are so portable crazy why didn't Vita outsell the PS4? It's a factor, but to act as if it's the only reason is just silly.

The vita did well considering the game library. The ps4 with all the games only barely outsold the vita.

PS4 is already over 2 million passed Vita in Japan and isn't even close to finished, while Vita is done. It didn't "barely" outsell Vita, it's going to exceed it quite considerably. Because, as you yourself say in bringing up games, there are more factors in this then just "it is portable". Hence to downplay Switch by saying it only won because it's portable is reductionist nonsense since we have established there are other key factors.

Its the biggest factor. What did the wii did compare to the 3ds and wii u to the switch?

Yet it wasn't enough to prevent Vita, a portable, selling much less than PS4, a home console. If portability was a sure-fire win button this wouldn't have been the case.

image if the ps4 had no 1st party and 3rd party AAA games? It wouldnt sell half as much as the vita. Funny how you made this thread but never made one of how long for switch to pass the wii u.

That's my point; portability is not the be-all end-all. There are other factors, like games. Switch is not selling as well as it is in Japan simply because it is portable, if that was the case Vita would've outsold the PS4. Switch is also selling as well as it is off the back of powerful system-selling software. To pretend its resounding success is solely due to portability is simply ignoring reality.

Portable is the biggest factor so i see nothing wrong with people saying japan is portable crazy. Vita sold over 6 million without any 1st party and 3rd party AAA games because it is portable

Switch is on track to more than triple Vita sales in Japan. Vita is also portable. So why is the Switch selling so much more than the Vita when they are both portable?

Portability + Nintendo Games is the biggest factor here.

I’ll do similar numbers to 3DS in Japan.
