Forums - General Discussion - My e-mail account got hacked, received blackmail and I have only two days to pay up!

It's a scam. My wife went throughout the same thing or awfully similar. He has nothing on you. And if there is something, own up to it so no one else can use it against you. Back to my wife, I knew something was fishy when the "hacker" said to click on a link to view captured pics from her laptop webcam when she was engaged in "illicit" activity. He was only trying to get her to click on the link to open a portal to her laptop. Just tell the guy to "Do your worse and FUCK YOURSELF." And walk away. If this also helps, her laptop was issued by the university she works. This happened during the weekend, and I told her it was a scam. IT verified it the next Monday.

Delete email address and create a new one

Reset your password, delete the email and get on with your life.

The bot sending the emails is looking for someone dumber than you !!!

It's fake.  Spoofed email that has you both the sender and receiver does not at all mean your email was hacked.  I have gotten these emails.  Right down to the detail about a web cam (that I don't have).  Have told them to fuck off with zero problems.

Also, this is another troll isn't it?

Wow, I'm surprised by the number of people taking this seriously. I'd have thought this being a Rol thread would have instantly made people realise it wasn't serious

He might not have been serious, but the scam is.

Well, sometimes Rol makes serious threads. I have an example, wait... it's at my fingertips, ... it must here somewhere, ...one moment please...

Hack 'em back,

Absolutely 100% a scam looking for fools to buy bitcoin for them. I've seen this email show up a few times in my spam folder. Often it even has your password in the subject line. This is basically because at some point, your email address and password were involved in a data breach. So these guys have your address and your password (at the time of the breach) and are using that knowledge to scare you into paying thousands in bitcoin rather than people see the dirty dirty things you're up to on the internet. This works on many people because, well, lots of people look at porn online.

But yeah, scam. But yes, your old password is out there.

Thread title too long, got bored and lost interest after ~10 words.

Better topic would be: "Did your e-mail account also got hacked?"

Far too many of you guys are taking this seriously. As if the thread being made by Rol didn't make it obvious enough, did you miss the part where Rol said he collected bit coins to send to the hacker by playing Mario on his NES? xD

When it comes to preserving your dirty dirty deeds done in private, one can never be too serious.
