Video game songs, singing or vocalized music, is nothing new. Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Sonic the Hedgehog are some of the franchises that have had numerous, memorable songs over the years. Heck, Nintendo, known for their iconic gaming music, had a few songs of their own, such as the DK Rap, songs from K.K. Slider (if you want to count Animal Crossing characters speaking gibberish as vocals), Fire Emblem's Main Theme in Brawl, and the various songs from other media (i.e., the Super Mario Bros. Super Show opening, the Pokemon anime, Kirby's anime, the DKC cartoon..., etc.).
However, for the past several years (2013-present), Nintendo appears to utilize more music with vocals in their big games, whether it be a main theme or one of the tracks in the OST. Of course, that could be due to Nintendo attempting to adapt with the times in video game development (insert Nintendo and "adapting to the times" joke here, if you want). Nevertheless, some of them have struck a cord (no pun intended) with fans. Here are some of the more recent tracks.
