Democrats are really trying to drive the wedge into the Republican party.

They're making Marjorie Taylor Greene, who liked posts suggesting the execution of democrats and suggested wealthy jews started California fires with their space laser, the face of the party. First they put pressure on the republican house leader to remove her from committees. Now, they're going to do it themselves. And, they're basically daring republicans to speak out in her defense.

On the one hand you could cynically say that this is a rather transparent attempt to stoke infighting among the republican party. But, on the other hand, you could say it shouldn't be that fucking hard to say that this woman is batshit crazy. And the fact that Republicans won't outright say that (Mitch McConnell at least made some backhanded comments to that effect) is pretty disturbing.

The Democrats imo are treating the issue like it should be treated. The initial reaction to all of this bullshit (which has been present in the GOP for decades, but not to this loony extent) has been to ignore it for fear that talking about the conspiracy theories would spread them. Now, they've reversed course, putting them front and center and forcing people to take a side. It presents the Democratic party an enemy to unify against.

Meanwhile, they're forcing republicans to walk a tightrope. The conspiracy fringe is so cultish that even the slightest contradiction of their world view makes you a pawn of the child eating comnisatanjewtocrats (see For News' ratings or Mike Pence). At a certain point though (one would hope), the constant appeasement of the deplorables will get to the point where republicans are going to start leaving the party (probably part of the suburban shift that helped save us from 4 more years).

I don't think that the current strategy of trying to walk the tightrope is going to pay off. If they want a future, the GOP has to rip the bandaid off. Denounce the qtards, and spend the next 2-4 year rebranding. The sooner they do it, the better the chance they have of remaining viable.

The big question is whether there are enough conservative voters left without the deplorables. Would stopping pandering to them just accelerate the GOP's decline even further?

You have to realize that the GOP is trying to heal after Trump.  Having another batshit crazy person they really want to ignore but the Dems keep throwing her out there makes them all want to run to the hills.  Its no different then the GOP using AOC as the face of the Dem party because they know how much she scares Republicans down to their core.  Do not worry, the GOP will find a way to deflect away from Greene.  They probably will either try to use AOC or Omar to get their base feeling like "yeah we have Greene but you have AOC".  That should get them back to that warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that Socialisms is still the number one bogie man they need to fear.

I'm not saying the future looks bright for the Republican party either way. But the views that a significant swath of the party holds are now so fucking extreme that if you double down on that base, there is no chance of appealing to anyone else. The views the more traditional republicans hold aren't great, but they're not so insane that endorsing them would completely prevent them from making a play for some of the people who traditionally vote democrat.

Most of you guys probably know this, but it's worth a mention

Biden has put an end to US support for the war in Yemen as well as stopping weapon sales to the Saudi Prince

Biden is giving people hope, damn it's nice to say that

"Democrats are gonna ruin this country!"

How, though? When Obama got into office, his policies were pretty universally good. All of the scaremongering about how Liberals wanna take the guns and take away freedom are just dogwhistling and lies because the reality is that republican policies are bad for the masses and treating the left as demons is the only way to justify the hatred.

Shit like this, like everything Biden is doing here...is mostly just damage control for the last four years. It's always up to the dems to pick up the messes after the republicans, and the republicans stop them every step of the way.

Politics suck.

One of the best things Biden has done so far should have had a lot more news coverage.  But negative news always gets more coverage.

Now if they only stopped support for Israel and their genocide. But I guess no politician in the world has the balls to do that.

That's extremely decent of him!
Biden has literally just trumped 4 years of Trump on foreign policy.

With all the stuff Biden is actually doing in such a short time, one has to wonder if Trump was really working? Or just procrastinating with rallies and Twitter for 4 years?

Yes, please. So disgusting how this public service has been sabotaged and dismantled.
