I'm a gamer, I like games, so If I see a game that I want to play then I'll get what is necessary to play it. It's worth it for me even if it means less games on my PC. My pc has a specific role, to play beefy games.

You're a gamer, yes, we know this.

Your earlier comment made a vouch for it being well worth the investment, but the latter comment afterwards didn't really indicate as such, making it sound like it wasn't a good investment, hence why I questioned in the first place. So less games is all that's needed to be a sound investment for a beefy rig?. I'll take that as a resounding yes.

I thought I made that point clear from the start when I said I have more exclusives on my PS4 making it a good investment, and my PC to play the few games that shines the best PC or only possible on PC. That is not a negative to me, at least not my intention to make it sound one.

At the time it was not clear to me, hence my questioning stance. I was curious is all (since fewer of anything to me sounds like a least enjoyed investment/time).

One of the selling points of a console is that you don't need to upgrade the hardware yourself. I assume most people who buy consoles, buy them for that reason. They can just plug it in and play, no hunting for which GPU they need, nor cpu, or motherboard, etc.....

Or you could buy a pre-built gaming PC or even have someone put it together for you, or even go to PCpartspicker.com and literally steal/copy someone's build and have it built for you.

When it comes to making/building a PC, we're not in the 90's to early 00's anymore.

Or you can just go to best buy and pick up a ps4 for 300 start playing. You play like you turn on your phone. Simple as that.

PC will never be more convenient than a console. I suppose PC gamers just are so used to PC setups and they like so much building things that they just can't see that.

It's like that idea of having smartphones that could be build and upgraded in parts. Most people wouldn't want to do that, only PC enthusiasts. It's rather nonsense.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

As consoles start being more PC-like... I have to kindly disagree.
PC's aren't just self-built boxes... Laptops are a PC, you can buy one of them off the shelf, chuck Steam on it and go. It's also got the convenience of being portable.

Lol, i'm buying a pre-made PC now and racking my head over future proofing, which GPU's are better supported in terms of drivers, what unique features are available, whethe the CPU will be capped by the CPU or vice versa

Exclusives are the only reason that keeps me buying Sony consoles. For all others I play on PC.

Just buy the best you can afford now and be done with.
CPU's tend to last longer than the GPU, so spending more on the CPU and upgrading the GPU a little more often tends to be the way to go.

And you can do that with a pre-built as well, simple as.

Consoles over the past generation have been trading convenience for some things PC's have been doing for years, but as a result, they've taken on bad luggage, ranging from downloading hefty patches, to crashing unexpectedly, to simply needing multiple OS updates, the likes of which were once just exclusive to PC.

PC gamers know what they know because they've bothered to learn about the platform, rather than staying stuck in the late 90's to early 00's way of thinking, that we all magically need 2-5k for a single system, that we always need the most beefiest of rigs, and that we somehow need to constantly update those rigs hardware wise every year, let alone software weekly (which we don't). I don't think console only gamers see that their way of thinking is about as backwards as someone waking up from a 90's induced coma, that they think the world hasn't changed in over 20 years.

That hasn't stopped people from "upgrading" to the latest iphone, that contains one or two hardware updates, which mean very little compared to the insane asking prices for pay as you go contracts (which cost about as much as a decent PC I might add).

You would, like other enthusiasts that fit that minority.  However I am answering your question in terms of the general consumer.

I want to play God of War 5 and Horizon 2 for example, so I am getting a PS5 without question.  However seeing as how my PS5 will also be able to play all major games that come to PC, I see no reason to invest in one unless it is a significant leap ahead of the console I will already own.  But even then, it feels like a wasted investment to invest in such a beast of a machine.  With that in mind, I am just fine with a PS5 and Switch combo until it is no longer an option or Sony screws up so royally that I no longer want their games.

This is how the average consumer sees it, and that is the answer to your question of why we bother to buy consoles next gen.  And for the record I have the money for a sick gaming PC, I can get one at any time.  However seeing how I already have access to the games it would have to offer, I am not willing to part with those funds for the initial investment.  I am sorry if you have trouble understanding that, but it is how most consumers look at things when it comes to their purchases.

And there is nothing wrong with being an enthusiast, we all have our own values.  Just understand that you are the minority and just because you do not have a reason to buy a next gen console, that it does not mean most other people feel the same way.

I wouldn't make a bold claim like that, if you're willing to understand that the PC userbase greatly outnumbers the console one, even in terms of "casual" users, and even then, the mobile market, which is catching up in terms of technological prowess, massively outnumbers console casuals as well. You'd understand that your market is the actual minority one.

I don't know if it really outnumbers console users, but many AAA games are still coming for consoles first. That must mean something.

Can I pick up a gaming laptop for $300 that runs Read Dead Redemption 2 without having to bother with configuration at all?

Besides even though consoles have updates it's still far way from being like a PC. I can pick up a console and a game on a disc, insert on my console and boom the game works, no setup, no config. The controller is boxed, the console easily connects to my TV and it all works like a smartphone. I don't even need to know about OS.

I have been gaming only on playstation since 2003 and that's not about to change any time soon. I'll definately get the PS5 day one.
