That's what you thought he said.  What he actually sad was.

"We have knowledge of the technical space, and we've been experimenting with this for a long, long time," said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. "What we believe is that, in order for this technology to move forward, you need to make it fun and you need to make it social.

"I haven't walked the floor, so I can't say in terms of what's on the floor today, but at least based on what I've seen to date, it's not fun, and it's not social. It's just tech." - 6/18/2015.

I'm really having a hard time trying to understand your logic here.

But hey! To be fair, he did say: "in order for this technology to move forward, you need to make it fun"  so maybe this is just what VR needed: a nice bit of cardboard around it to make it fun.

So 3 years, it was mostly comprised of tech demos. Very few actual games.

They don't see that confident in it. Not even a video of it to even show us what its like and its out in a month

imagine being an adult and getting annoyed over something that isn't even primarily made for you

like all the "b-but the switch hardware is too weak this will look awful this is terrible news!11!" or "this is gonna ruin VR" posts i'm seeing on some places

Yes, i'm sure Nintendo wants you to expect the absolute best VR experience ever from something that costs $80 and is made out of cardboard. Totally.

guess some of these people are actually the right age demographic after all

My problem with Nintendo doubling down on the Labo is that it was a mediocre product from the start.

They arent doubling down on Labo though, go back and watch the original Labo trailer from January 2018, it showed most of these kits so they are just releasing the kits that were already designed.

Probably because they arent, these are just the remaining kits that were already designed. They were briefly shown in the reveal trailer from over a year ago.

They are letting all the hate come out from people first. Then they will post the video and people would be like "oh, this is not bad"

Pocky Lover Boy!

Only 40 bucks? Even if it is bad, it is still worth the entry point in my opinion.

Good, maybe I will start selling some of my huge inventory of Labos. I sold a few during Christmas though, so was excited about that. Cannot keep Switches in stock due to that 35 demo thing either.

Nintendo should've started with this first. Too late now.

I'm a VR believer but it's clear that this product isn't aimed at the core demographic that's into PC/Mobile experiences you can get on the Oculus /Vive or Samsung VR/Go.
Entry level point is fine just like it was when Google launched their own cardboard piece to introduce VR to masses.
I want to see further to know if it would be worth the purchase of one of the kits just to try it out for *gasp* fun.
