I dont really understand this line of thinking. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl & Black/White sold more than Animal Crossing: Wild World on DS and Pokemon X/Y & Sun/Moon sold more than Animal Crossing: New Leaf on 3DS. Annual/bi-annual releases of Pokemon did not prevent it from outselling Animal Crossing on DS or 3DS so I dont see why that would change on Switch. |
Wut
My argument wasn't even based around that xD Literally all I was mentioning was that Sun and Moons' legs were cut short, and the same will happen with Pokemon here (where Sword and Shield could easily sell 22+ million, but won't because of another game soon after).
The argument isn't that alone will make Animal Crossing sell better. The argument is that Animal Crossing will already see a massive increase in sales similar to Mario/Zelda/Splatoon, AND the fact that Sword and Shield will get a successor soon after (even if it isn't a direct sequel) will make Animal Crossing win.

Sun and Moon seriously could have outsold Diamond and Pearl if not for Ultra Sun and Moon. Animal Crossing will sell more than Sword and Shield lifetime. |
Well, I could see Pokemon selling more .... so, actually, I'll take back what I said until we see more info on Animal Crossing. It's not that I don't believe AC can do it, it's just that I would rather wait till we get more info on both games.
Also, I thought New Leaf was at around 13.45 million instead of 12.10
I basically agree with @StarDoor (some slight variance may apply)
In 2019-2021, Pokemon. But Animal Crossing, I predict, will win in the end. Why?
Pokemon usually launches multiple generations in each console generation. Also, with a multitude of spinoffs, Let's Go, and other games they will cannabalize. Will Pokemon as a brand sell more than Animal Crossing as a brand on Switch? No doubt. But there is only ever one main Animal Crossing per hardware generation (if that). New Leaf blew the door open on this series potential sales wise, and I think it is just getting started.
All this is if they give us a traditional AC experience. If they go the always online town route, where you live with computers and other gamers in real time online, then AC is going to be far higher in sales than New Leaf.

Well maybe you should explain yourself better next time you went from saying that a new game will cut legs short then in the next sentence said AC will sell more. The logical conclusion is that you were saying AC will seller better as a direct result of Pokemon getting a new game in 1-2 years since you didnt actually give any reasons why AC will sell more.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
Pokemon should take this one quite easily.
Bet with Intrinsic:
The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
Pokemon is a sales juggernaut.
Lets just put it this way, Pokemon will blow any other games out the water sales wise with the exception of GTA, Mario, COD, Elder Scrolls, FIFA and Red Dead.
There's a reason why Franchises such as GTA, Mario, COD, FIFA, and Pokemon has sales totaling 200 Million+ and not Animal Crossing.
