Forums - Gaming Discussion - What games are you looking forward to (so far) in 2019?

I'm looking forward to most Nintendo releases, anxious/scared for Fire Emblem.

Right now tho, I'm most excited about Tales of Vesperia, not so much for replaying it myself (I'll buy it again on Switch, but I still own my 360 copy) but more so because a couple of friends that are Tales of fans finally get to experience this really nice entry in the franchise.

Day 1:
The Outer Worlds (Fallout: New Vegas is one of my favorite games)
In the Valley of Gods (I loved Campo Santo's Firewatch and similar games such as Edith Finch and The Witness)
Pokémon 2019 (haven't played since "Silver" but I'm stoked for the first fully 3D console game)
Crash Team Racing (I loved the original and can't wait to play this with friends)
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order (if good this will be the first EA game I'll buy in years)
The Last of Us 2 (not confirmed to be 2019)
Cyberpunk 2077 (not confirmed to be 2019)

Other games I'm looking forward to but probably won't buy day 1:
Control
Days Gone
Doom Eternal
C&C Remastered
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Ori and the Will of the Wisps

I'm not particularly hyped on Shenmue but since I supported it on Kickstarter I'll be playing it this August.

Yoshi's Crafted World looks like a very fun and charming platformer. I've never played a Yoshi game before, but from what I've seen so far this one seems very promising. Also, this is basically guaranteed to be my graphics GOTY for 2019.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards is a new campaign for one of the best platformers ever made, so of course it's going to be great. The devs called it "our biggest and most grandest singleplayer campaign yet". On the same day they're also releasing Shovel Knight Showdown, which is a multiplayer fighting game, and looks very fun as well.

Pokémon Gen 8 is a game we know we know absolutely nothing about, and there's a lot that could go wrong. Still, it's a new main entry in one of my favourite franchises, so I can't help being excited for it. I mostly hope Game Freak focusses on making the game actually good, instead of just 'different'.

Other games I might play: Luigi's Mansion 3, Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime 4, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Pikmin 4, Doom Eternal, Team Sonic Racing, My Friend Pedro... However, I have so many older games to play, so I doubt I'll end up getting any of these.

DMCV

Yeah Platinum can do anything and I'll be onboard. Not sure when that one is coming out though.

DMCV is something that I hope winds up being good. But the MTX in it just make me wary. Same goes for MK11. It looks good, but I'm not paying $60 + another $40 for season pass characters.

Pretty much just Anthem and Fire Emblem. I have a feeling Anthem is going to dominate pretty much all of my gaming time this year.

You guys have made me think deep about 2019. I didn't realise that there are so many good games gonna come out in a space of 1 year.

My most looking forward to games in 2019:

  • Metroid Prime 4,
  • Death Stranding,
  • Bayonetta 3,
  • Resident Evil 2 Remake,
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake (if it comes out in 2019),
  • Devil May Cry 5,
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (if it comes out in 2019),
  • Town (if it comes out in 2019),
  • Animal Crossing,
  • Luigi's Mansion 3,
  • New Pokemon (If its that fully 3D openworld we've all wished for and doesn't get delayed beyond 2019),
  • Anthem,
  • Daemon X Machina,
  • Biomutant,
  • Dying Light 2,
  • Metro Exodus,
  • Star Citizen (if it comes out in 2019),
  • ...also whatever happened to Seasons of Heaven?

I'm also tempted to get (if I have time/money after playing the rest above):

  • Yoshi's Crafted World,
  • Fire Emblem,
  • Tales of Vesperia Remaster/Port,
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles HD,
  • Days Gone,
  • Ghosts of Tsushima.

I have Tales of Vesperia for 360 and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Gamecube and never completed them but really liked them so I wouldn't mind playing them again either on Switch or PS4.

Nothing for me, unfortunately. Hopefully some good rpgs get release dates this year.
