My prediction for first month sales was 9m but it looks like it possibly will do that in its first 2 weeks.

Sell thru or ship+digital?

The prediction was for WW ship+digital but at this point it's looking to beat 9m sell through.

Well, this has become not fun at all a long time ago. I stretched this conversation long enough. I made the point that i didn't like (whoever actually says it) reading a PR saying X console is the fastest selling consoles against Y and Z without any kind of context, and i should not have done that. I derailed the thread badly because i wanted to answer every poster and that was a mistake.

The point was, that i don't like recent PR from anyone recently. I made the same criticism back then with Nintendo PR (and it was proved that Nintendo failed at giving correct numbers) and when Rockstar announced RDR 2 sales (with its best selling weekend ever). I WOULD DO THE SAME IF SONY DID THE SAME THING, but because Sony is more quiet than a mute nun in a church recently..., they obviously can not make mistakes that way....but believe, i will be there when they screw up. I expect then people calling me a hater or a Nintendo fanboy then.

So my honest apologies to everyone here. It seems that i failed miserably in trying to explain my point of view....Again, congrats to Nintendo and their fantastic sales numbers. I probably need to spend some time off of this site....

I dont see a normal xbox one and a one x as the same console either

This is where you have to be careful about generational and console delineations.  Again, power is not the criterion.  The Xbox One X doesn't differentiate itself enough from the standard model to gain acceptance as a separate and independent console.

Admittedly, these rules aren't written in stone and their application is largely centered around industry consensus. With that in mind, the industry still qualifies the One and One X as the same console....just different models.

Which funny since the gap between the normal and the X will be bigger when comparing the gap from the X with the next generation ( most likely )

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

The problem is Microsoft did (IMO) a huge mistake by releasing an almost 6 times more powerful hardware than its base model and market it as the same console. From a 900p console which can barely hold up 30 fps to a 4k-60fps console there is a huge gap, even a generation. And they prevent them from potential huge sales by naming it after a non-failure-but-non-successful-either brand.

Sony didn't do that by releasing a half-baked 2k-30fps Pro version which can mostly be useful to play games on "performance mode". So no real generation gap for the PS4.

Great to see this game doing great in Europe and Japan also.

Now that bears the question: What was the fastest-selling console Nintendo game before? And how much did it sell?

Seems that some Nintendo handheld game did better there, though, otherwise they probably wouldn't have specified "console game"

And thus, Tbone's 25 million becomes reality.

I've learned my lesson never to doubt him, lol.

Well this is pretty insane... the best weeks of December are still not over.
Switch will sell like crazy. I was never expecting the Switch to beat 3DS + Wii U but it looks like Nintendo can pull that off.

And 2019 looking so good too, NSMBU in January while last year we only had like kirby in MARCH.

It will explode next year. With a price cut and a revision it could do Wii/DS numbers

SUPERBBBBBBBB!!!!!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Wow, these are insane sales! Definitely well deserved, I can see it becoming one of the highest selling exclusive (non Pokemon) games of all time
