Welcome to the 9th Annual Greatest Games Event! On November 12th, there will be 50 days before the end of the year. To celebrate, we will be posting our 50 favorite games of all time, one game a day until we hit December 31st and post our #1 game of all time!

This thread is for those who have signed up and have created a list of 50 Games to post. If you haven't already signed up then you can sign up right here! Each and every list will be compiled here in this thread, so good luck, have fun, and enjoy showing the games that have defined you as a gamer!

2018 was not a pretty crazy year for gaming (if anything, it was a pretty crazy year for a lot of other stuff, and not in a positive way), so my list hasn't changed much at all this time. That said, there have been some new games and some interesting changes here, one of which is particularly surprising and I'm still unsure about. But, what's decided is decided. Before I get into the list, just some disclaimers:

PLATFORMS - I'm only listing whatever platforms I've played each game on, or which platform the version I played is original to - I mean, if I played for example a game on the 3DS's Virtual Console, I'll just list whatever platform that game was originally from, because that's the version I played and not one unique to the 3DS.

YEAR - Also, the year I list is always the one from the earliest release, because that's the only thing that makes any sense.

YOY - Most here would know, but just to clarify, "YoY" stands for Year-on-Year, which is how much a game's position changed from last year. If it says "H.M.", that stands for Honorable Mention, which means that game wasn't on last year's list but I had already played it by then, thus not qualifying it for "New" (it is also a lie, because I don't mention those games at all, so there isn't any mention and definitely no honor).

So basically I have the most games under PC, but it has been around for decades so that is understandable.  After that I have PS2, NES, PS3, and Arcade, respectively.  The PS2 and NES were extremely dominant platforms, and the Arcade was actually the dominant platform for much of the 80's.  The surprise for me is the PS3.  I suppose I need to consider the PS3 an under rated system.  Also I have 3.5 for both SNES and Genesis, which is appropriate.  I have 7 games total for that generation which actually makes it my favorite generation for home consoles.  Although if you count handhelds, then PS2 + GBA would be on top with 9 total.

Overall, I think I have a good appreciation for all of the various gaming generations, and there doesn't seem to be an overabundance of games from one platform or time period.

My top ten games are the only ones out of the 350+ I've played that I'd give a perfect score.

I haven't participated in this event before, but I've had a spreadsheet ranking my game library fora few years, so the number change shows how much it has changed compared to the end of last year. -NC- games have not changed rank.

 2018 in review: I played through a few more game this year. Some are replays and others are more new. Some game I feel I overrated them after the 1st playthrough while others stayed the same. Thanks to the NES and SNES classic I have been able to play more classics. I also heavily got into Castlevania.  The Switch also has some games that I was unable to put in last time. (Like Xenoblade 2).
Expect a decent amount of new games on the list this time around! 

The Final Game #1 Pikmin 2
 The wait was long for this one. For some reason, the North American version of Pikmin 2 on Wii took 3 years to get America. I thought this game was never coming but when it did I got it day one. Never did I think something could beat Pikmin yet the sequel did it so easily. The game is pretty much better in every way except for fairness. Purple Pikmin are overpowered and will destroy everything but like one or two enemies. They even destroy the final boss from the first game in like 5 seconds! What I love about this game is that it is a lot more crazy. We can have simple creatures like Bulborbs to machine gunning spiders. It was awesome. The had a strange dungeon crawling element that never got old. I beat this game many times. Honestly, when the American Version of Pikmin 2 Wii came out I was in a sorta of gaming hiatus. Pikmin 2 was pretty much the only game I was playing that year. It showed that Pikmin really was amazing enough to even pull me out of a gaming drought when nothing else interested me. Good job Pikmin 2! 

Yesterday's Game #2 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Another game that came out of nowhere to me. The story on how I got to play this one is different from most. My school gave everyone Macs (Yes the Apple ones!) for schoolwork. Now it being a school device in high school meant everything was blocked. However, there was a way to glitch the system to make it do anything you want.l I took advantage of that many times. One of my acquaintances (Not really a friend but someone I talked to so I didn't get bored) showed me playing Donkey Kong Country on the Mac. Me being curious decided to get the Rom and the emulator so that I could play while in school. Now, this program had pretty much every SNES game on there. Nothing was missing. Even crappy Shaq Fu was on there. I naturally played through a lot of them but the one that captured my attention the most was A Link to the Past. Before I wasn't a huge fan of Zelda. I thought pretty much the entire Post Ocarina games were all heavily overrated. A Link to the Past was different, WAY different. I was addicted, I was having lots of fun but most importantly I felt like I was having an adventure. From beginning to end, it felt like a magical experience. I just never felt like this from a video game. I could not get over it. I played the game again and again. Eventually, I got it on the Wii and played it again and again. Then I got it on Wii U where I unsurprisingly played it again and again. Eventually, I got it on the SNES Mini where I played it again but only one time. Beating this game was like an annual tradition to me.  The year was never complete until I beat A Link to the Past that year. A Link to the Past is one of those special games that come once a decade for a person. I would not feel like a game will be this special again until Breath of the Wild and Final Fantasy VI. It will probably be in the late 2020s until I feel it again.

Rules: Multiplatform games will count for the system I played for. If the game is a port from an earlier generation then it counts for that system instead. The only exception is simultaneous cross-generation releases. Those act like Multiplatform games. If I played on none of the original systems then I just put it under the console I was most likely to get it on.
