Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Doom vs Wolfenstein II: Better Panic Button Switch shooter?

I choose...

Doom 18 75.00%

Wolfenstein II 6 25.00%

Total:24

Of the two id Tech powered FPS titles Panic Button has brought to Switch so far, which do you think is better, and why?

Doom, because Doom is the better base game overall.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

In terms of story Wolfenstein 2 is vastly superior, but that's not what Doom is openly going for anyway. Wolf 2 also has a better framerate on average.
DOOM shines through gameplay. Level design, Gunplay, Music, all of these IMO are better in DOOM as opposed to Wolf 2.
Also feel like DOOM fits the Switch better when handheld mode is considered.

If you're talking technically, that's up for debate.
I'd suggest anyone interested in that look up both DigitalFoundry videos of these games and come to their own conclusion since most of it is based on what you prefer to lose, (Visuals or framerate) and how far you'd go in either direction to still consider the game as enjoyable.

To answer the question...i can't pick. If i was forced to, i'd probably give DOOM the edge just for the gameplay and handheld aspects.

Doom

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Doom by a country mile. Both in terms of gameplay and port quality.

Doom. While Wolf 2 preserves more of the graphical rendering pipeline and has a slightly higher framerate, the cost in resolution was too high. They should have done scaling back in other areas instead as the game is very, very blurry at many points in handheld which kinda defeats the purpose of the Switch port in my eyes. Doom still can be quite blurry but never as bad and holds up better in handheld mode. In dock, both hold up similarly though Wolf does bring more bells and whistles. As games I prefer Doom but Wolf 2 is good as well.

Wolfenstein 2 is a very ambitious game and story. Doom is a refinement on arcade game play. It really depends on what you want and it should be stated Doom is closer to older tech hence fitting better on the Switch compared to Wolfenstein which is more recent and intended for better tech.

Doom is just a better game, it's like asking if the port of Breath of the Wild plays better than the port of fast RMX, just at a base level the game is far superior, from an audio, gameplay , graphics , story, every aspect of the title is just brilliant start to finish. Wolfenstein 2 is an okay game, it's an okay port of an okay game. Doom is a RIP AND TEAR, RIP AND TEAR, RIP AND TEAR Port of a game which is RIP AND TEAR!

Buy Doom
