I'm sorry but I disagree Coktoe. EDGE is a paper magazine based on a subscription model. It's not the same.

The only reason people hate EDGE is because they gave their favourite franchise or platform's game a bad review. Nothing more, nothing less. In this regard, a certain group started hating them because of their recent scores of a certain platforms exclusives.

That's absolutely untrue and an unfounded assumption on your part.  The problems people have had with EDGE go back years.  As long as I've been reading gaming forums, in fact, and well before I joined VGC.  I even remember the Rockstar controversy.  Rather, it looks like EDGE has suddenly earned a lot of new defenders who act like this is something new.

I find it funny that you call out an assumption of mine by returning it with another assumption. Anyway, let's not kid ourselves Pokoko. I have been here and observing too. We know that we had this backlash when Senua, God of War and who could forget, Uncharted 4 (which had a petition going to remove EDGE's score from metacritic) got lower scores than people wanted. If they got perfect scores we wouldn't have this conversation. And that's not right.

And, yes, people dislike EDGE because they give their favorite games low scores.  Why wouldn't they?  What better reason could possibly exist?  From a personal standpoint, they are probably the publication that I trust the least and that's an opinion developed over a long period of time.

It doesn't make it alright. Look, I understand. You have good scores and there is one contrarian score that doesn't make sense. You have those. The difference however imo is that this is a print publication as opposed to a site that needs clicks. I also doubt that many here actually read the reviews to judge them as they did.

You're trying to tell me that the overall criticism of EDGE, which goes back years, is suddenly invalid because of recent criticism?  No, it's not.

As far as a petition to remove EDGE's Uncharted 4 score, you might be mixing that up with something else.  EDGE gave UC4 a 9/10.

That was Washington Post, which the review was a complete joke.

EDGE randomness backs from at least 20 years ago.

Of course there has always been criticism of EDGE, like any other publication. But it has only picked up lately and you know why. Because of a recent string of disappointing scores.

Oh, I did mix it up I guess, but the other cases I do remember well.

Do you remember when EDGE gave The Last of Us 10/10, and you were angry and said that they were wrong? Or are their reviews "right" only when they fit your agenda?

The next time Jim Sterling takes heat for a review, I want you to jump in and say that it's just because of recent scores that people are criticizing him.  I want you to dismiss everything people have had to say about him for years and tell us that none of that matters.  That people only have a problem with him because of recent stuff.  It's going to be interesting.

What you're trying to do is wipe away a long, long history of criticism and I have to wonder why.

And here I thought I was making the assumptions. I was actually defending Jim for having the right to say whatever he wants, even though I disagreed with the review itself. And the death threats were awful. Having said that, I'm not even on VGC long enough for you to put that on me. And that goes for the guy above as well.

Now on your last comment, I already said that it is recent. With that, I mean the dismissal of EDGE has picked up more than before, it is something that I have noticed these past few EDGE threads. Cause of that in my opinion is a string of disappointing scores for a particular platform. It wasn't that long ago I saw Barkley or Hiku make a list of scores in order to prove a bias over many years, which I found funny considering they gave 10s to many high profile PS games. It is nothing more than that, Pokoko.

The internet has created a breed of cowards... Death threats to Jim Sterling because his opinion of a video game.... Take a moment to let that sink in.

How the hell does Destiny 2 score a 9 and Tomb Raider a 4?
Rest i sort of agree with.
