Go on. Fill it. I believe in you. I’ll give you a hint: it’s the “I” in “FBI”.

investigation

Congratulations!  I knew you could do it.

Absolutely continue. Innocent until proven guilty. No evidence that he's guilty(thus far). Vote should happen by mid next week as it passed the committee earlier today to send it to the floor and the 7th FBI check will be pretty quick.

Thanks for not Banning me over my opinion. Resetera did so and called it trolling a sensitive topic. Everyone in there was defending Ford so I defended Kavanaugh. I hope that site implodes if he's elected.

3DS: 5429-9952-3189  Add me if you wish!

I honestly believe (can't prove 100%) that Ford is lying. However, the biggest losers are the Democrats. Using this as a way to postpone the vote for their own benefit is really screwed up.

No. He definitely shouldn't. I am surprised that anyone actually supported him. If a person can't even answer should entire system of law allowed to be circumvented(1) that person definitely have no job being in legal system of democratic nation.

If the FBI can turn something up that merits prosecution then all bets will be off, but with the standard of proof needed for charges to be brought, I doubt anything will come of it.

There's no standard of proof possible.  The statute of limitation expired 35 years ago.

That's a good point. I suppose I mean the “standard of proof were the statute of limitation ignored”. Or alternatively, such evidence to be found that would make it impossible for Kavanagh to bring a defamation suit (not that he ever would). Either way, the purpose of the FBI investigation is not to ensure that Kavanagh is innocent but to confirm that there is insufficient evidence to prove that he is guilty. The Flake compromise should give Republican senators coverage against the nightmare scenario that they vote Kavanagh through and it is later proved (to a reasonable standard) that he's guilty.

These discussions are so stupid. Everyone has already made up their minds. They've either picked the narrative they want to believe based on Republican or Democrat identity, or had their in between opinion stuffed into one of those categories. Everyone has stopped listening. This isn't a discussion, it's shouting into a very noisy, meaningless void.

As an European I feel it should be postponed.  Not because I think he is lying but because this is a huge decision that has a big impact on the future of the USA.

This is one of those moments the goverment can go crazy and use billions or whatever it takes to find out the truth.

He gets the position or not without finding out the truth it is going to be one of the worst things you can do for democracy and will only divide the country more.

Fuck the Republicans if they are lying/Fuck the Democrats if they are lying but without finding out the truth Fuck them both.

I don't think someone of Kav stature at this point could ever seriously be expected to hear and fairly rule on women rights in the future. his nomination has been a sham and he is in no way fit for the supreme court. Ms. Ford has been put through hell due to this asshole and provided plenty of evidence during here testimony that this is not something that came up all of sudden during the process. People expecting here to recount every detail of an event that happen 30 years ago are just looking for reason to discredit her. Kav refusal to cooperate with a FBI investigation and his hostility toward democrats brings no favors from me towards him. I mean the dude even said Clinton is the reason he is being blamed, we don't need this partisan nutjob on the supreme court. The vote should be delayed and overall a new nominee should be chosen.

She can't remember anything, holes all over her story, people she named in her statements, all denied her story, etc. Kav passed 6 background checks by the FBI already. This is a political hit,no question about that.  So gotta disagree all the way with your assessment

Whether or not you believe Ford made all this up as an elaborate "hit job" (and a very personally dangerous one, ie. committing perjury), the fact is that Kavanaugh's _reaction_ to these accusations, with his wild partisan conspiracy theories and unhinged yelling/crying Academy Award performance at the hearing should disqualify him. He is temperamentally and ideologically unfit to sit on the Supreme Court, period.

You mean like refusing to even hold hearings for a SCOTUS candidate for 10 months kinda screwed up?  If you want to talk about dereliction of duty and party over country, take a look at your pal McConnell for a shining example.

Agreed, thats pretty much why I've dropped out of these conversations. There just isn't enough information to say one way or the other what is true definitively. There is some interesting middle ground about what should be done in non-definitive cases but it seems everybody just wants to accuse someone of lying while asserting with 100% confidence that they know whoever they supports is telling the truth (which is BS no matter which side you support). I see no reason to really add to that noise.
