Forums - Music Discussion - What's the greatest song ever made, in your opinion?

It's hard to pick just one song. But Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel is definitely up there, and it has been one of my favourite songs since I was a kid.

I find surprising that some here also chose Pink Floyd songs.

Isn't Pink Floyd usually one of the - maybe even the most commonly picked band when it comes to greatest songs?

Through the dark - The Sundays. Harriet Wheeler's voice is just something else.

Sales prediction, PS4: 122 Million, Xbox one: 50 million, Switch: 105 million.

When I saw the thread title, Bohemian Rhapsody was the first thing to come to mind -- so not surprising in a way to see it as the OP pick, too. It has such an epic sweep to go along with the virtuosity of Queen and Mercury's irreplaceable voice.

Stand by Me - Ben E. King

Hard to decide way too many good songs.

So lets go with this haha:

I'd probably not put it as my personal #1, and yet whenever I listen to "Stairway to Heaven" I have to think, "these were a bunch of geniuses that got a triple dose of inspiration when they made this song."

I love The Sundays and yet this is the first I've heard this song.  Thank you for pointing this out!

The instant I saw the thread title, I thought of Bohemian Rhapsody, just like OP. I don't think there really can be a greatest song, but the fact that at least three people in the same thread on a web forum all thought of the same song amongst millions speaks to the power of that song. If not literally the greatest song (as that would be difficult to measure), it is at the very least the most iconic one, for me.

So many great songs were released during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Those were the good old days of great music.

Not sure if it classifies as a 'song'.
