Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Switch's home menu takes up LESS than 200 KB

I really appreciate how fast it is. It takes forever to boot up a PS4 in comparison.

Good. The one thing I hate about Windows is the absolutely bloated OS. I wish I could get rid of all the extra crap on my PS4's home menu that I never use. Nope. All I can do is shove it all into its own folder of banishment. No wait, I think they took that ability out with the last update.

As a minimalist this makes me all sorts of happy.

No need, either, for custom options and all sort of other illusions to make you feel you are not consuming a mass-produced electronic.

I think you might be over thinking this one a bit Nietzsche. :)

I've tried to explain to people that having OS music uses processing power and more complex images on the menu would require more RAM. The less the menu does, the more the games can do.

I also like how it handles crashes, at least in 98% of the time. Instead of the usual complete freezing that the Wii U experienced, for which you had to force a shutdown, the Switch simply alerts you of an error and returns you to the main menu. Pretty sweet.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Youtube and Netflix for those who want it would be nice.

Agreed.  It is completely ridiculous for an entertainment device in 2018 to not have these apps available.  I suppose this is not necessarily Nintendo's fault.  Nevertheless, it ain't cool.

That's tiny, no wonder it's so fast. I'd still tweak it a bit more, like putting a paring option in the Quick menu.

And music is as easy as playing in the lock-screen, shifting through your icons (works to but not from!?!?) or going into the profile.

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

Thank god! On of the best things about the Switch! Especially how slow it was from the Wii U and 3DS.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Oh yes, a simple browser would've probably crashed the system because the mega powerful SOC cannot handle more than 200kb at once.

I hope they'll use that excuse for everything now.
