Its a very strange comparision.
Its like comparing FF7 to Doom.
Games need to be compared within its own genre for me, Sure you can have an all time favourite but how do we compare a JRPG made 23 years ago to a Cinematic action game made this year?

God of War. Chrono Trigger is an old turn based rpg with no recent remaster/remake while GoW is a new action rpg that's likely the game of this gen.

Chrono Trigger is a SNES game and it’s still fantastic.

I enjoy the new God of War (almost) as much as the next person, but honestly I still think of Chrono Trigger as a better game at the end of the day.
