Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I'm not sure I can go back to Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate after playing World.

Is it better than Stardew Valley?

No.

Also, I find this thread to be hilarious, as I find Monster Hunter: World, to be barren and empty.
I'm having fun with the game, but for a game that has been praised for its AI and world density, it is shockingly hollow and eh, pretty lame.
Hit reg sucks too.

Give it time. They're pretty new to that "capable platform" thing. They'll learn.

The ''MHW is for casualz'' arguments are laughable. I've been playing Tri, Tri Ultimate and 4G for hundreds of hours each and World has been as enjoyable, maybe even more, and equally as challenging. It plays faster with handy tutorials for new AND advanced players, has beautiful graphics, worlds and the monster fights are awesome af. Who cares if they got rid of a few mechanics you don't even notice while fighting monsters. I'm also pretty much done with farming flowers and rocks for hours. Especially the first few hours were boring as hell, but not in World.

Just watched a Generation Ultimate demo walkthough and it felt like going two generations back.

Part of my issue with Monster Hunter is the same as my issue with Pokemon and Smash Bros, the games are WAAAY too similar to each other. When it comes to Mario Kart, despite many sequels, the games feel different enough from each other due to the big changes to the tracks and Karts; unfortunately, Monster Hunter, Pokemon, and Smash seem to fail where MK succeeds. I don't think Monster Hunter will ever be as successful as World ever again.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I'm hopeful that we'll get the sequel to World on the successor to Switch. I don't think we'll get World on the Switch ever.

Any why can't a giant seamless environment be created on Switch?  Zelda does this quite well.

Because that will require more work and Capcom intends for their the minimum investments they seek on the Switch.

lol i should have added other than the reason Capcom don't want to lol.

This came out in Japan last year and no, it didn't because it is a low effort port of an expanded edition of a stop-gap title that was composed almost entirely of remixed content from old games.

While you are correct about it not outselling World, your reasoning is fairly off. It came out last August when there was only a few million Switches out there. Switch was selling out routinely so there was no chance Monster Hunter could boost sales. Lastly, it came out on 3DS as well in Japan. This fact alone ensured the sales would be limited as there are over 20 million 3DS users in Japan who would have 0 incentive to try fighting for a Switch to play Monster Hunter at that point.

The game has reviewed well and was received well in Japan. That tells me that you were just trolling with those comments. With all that said, I completely understand how the quality of life improvements and graphical upgrades will make going back to Monster Hunter on handheld seem like a terrible idea. I am one of the few people with the ability to go back to Generations Ultimate because I see it as the handheld version vs the full console version being on PC (or PS4/XBOX One). However, people that are looking for the comparable console experience from Generations Ultimate are likely going to be disappointed.

The Last of Us sold about 7M releasing on a 70M PS3, but another 10M being re-released shortly after on PS4 less than 10M userbase.

It would come to reason that Ultimate being better than the 3DS version and coming with a much bigger window shouldn't really harshly impacted.

Already used Smash as an example of how the timing really matters along with the cheaper price along with Switch having a much smaller audience than 3DS. The game sold well according to Capcom but it was never going to make huge waves considering all the circumstances surrounding the title's release.

Also, how can a game sell 10 million when there are not 10 million consoles available? That would be a remarkable feat that should go down as an anomaly and most definitely not the standard example. Regardless, the circumstances surrounding those two titles are very different, Monster Hunter on Switch was not going to sell, say 3 million units since there was less than three million units out there, no way to for the game to boost the sales of Switch, another version of the same game on another platform for 20 dollars cheaper that launched the same day, franchise fatigue, and the other reasons listed by both myself and Nuvendil. It stands to reason that your example and my example are not the going to apply the same.

World is a game changer for it..... speak with your wallet, dont buy the "Generations Ultimate" version,
let them see what people want is a new World 2 game instead.

Easily said but 3 problems:

1, Capcom has more or less declared all their Switch games "tests" publicly, basically holding their library to ransom in order to try and bully Switch owners into buying the games they release by threatening to pull the franchise in question from the system in future

2, World lacks numerous features and monsters as the OP described, left out for no adequately explored reason so how do you send the message you want those back?

3, if someone wants a portable MonHun experience, this is the best there is by a mile sadly.  And the only opportunity really to show support for that.

So even though Ultimate is a bit more meaty with more monsters and gameplay options, you would pass because of it being visually weaker?

There's "visually weaker" and then there's "looking like an extremely low effort remaster of a PS2 game with consrant loading times breaking up the flow".  Compared to Xenoblade 2, Skyrim special edition, Breath of the Wild, and Super mario Odyssey , not only does it look two gens behind, it runs no better (and in the case of Odyssey markedly worse) with smaller open areas.  It's not hard at all to understand how this release fails to impress.

You can remote playit onto a ps vita or android phone. A ps4 controller can also be connected so you don't need the touch controls. I did this with gta the other day and my god son played fifa years ago and it works really well. You won't get a better monster Hunter experience on the go then ps4 remote play. t

The quality of that experience is highly variable based on factors outside a customer's control and also more epensive to set up.
