I hate, hate, hate Alex Jones and his conspiracy crap and lies. That being said, this was a huge mistake by these companies. He should have the right to express his stupid opinions on their platforms. I fear they have only made him more dangerous now.

I mostly agree. They've almost played into his agenda by "silencing" him.

At the same time, speech that incites violence (like the harassment of Sandy Hook victim's parents) is not protected by the 1st Amendment. Additionally, these private companies aren't obligated to host speech they feel is hateful or slanderous.

Honestly, I'd be more against ISPs blocking fringe voices than individual venues doing so. If someone leaves a hateful, inflammatory comment on one of my videos I'm not obligated to keep it up and seemingly validate it by doing so.

Also said that even though they are privatelly owned (but in the case of these companies they are also publically traded) their space are basically public space.

No, no, no, no and again no.  That is not how the law works in the US.  I keep trying to tell you this and you keep doing that ^.

Go ahead, try telling a private space that they are a public space and that you will treat it like a public space and watch as the cops roll up to escort you out.

There is such things that are privately owned public spaces. Privately owned public space (POPS), or alternatively, privately owned public open spaces (POPOS), are terms used to describe a type of public space that, although privately owned, is legally required to be open to the public under a city's zoning ordinance or other land-use law.

Think of like a plaza. atroum, some parks, ect.

Here, go check out some in New York if you want. https://apops.mas.org/

Edit: I don't think it' s a far reach to say that once a online forum gets as large, prominent and influential as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube that they may be considered a POPS, and thus have to follow public rules, such as free speech.

THIS IS NOT A MATTER OF FREE SPEECH! THIS ISSUE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FREE SPEECH! THE ISSUES AT HAND ARE A MATTER OF PUBLIC REJECTION AND INDIVIDUAL ENTITIES CHOOSING TO NOT ALLOW THEIR PLATFORMS BE USED TO SPREAD HATE SPEECH AND CONSPIRACY THEORIES! THE ACTUAL ISSUE OF FREE SPEECH (the government restricting what you are legally allowed to say, period) HAS NEVER BEEN THE CONCERN HERE!

Holy shit I am shocked at how stubbourn people can be in regards to, you know, the actual definition of terms and laws. These issues are non negotiable, they are not up for debate, and this is not a matter of opinion. Stop acting like someone being told to shut the fuck up (in a nicer, roundabout way) and to get the fuck off our platforms (in a nicer, roundabout way) is in any way an issue of free speech or censorship. IT IS NOT. Squealing about it and yelling it loudly further muddies an issue that SHOULD be clear cut.

Ignorance is powerful when repeated often enough. Don't contribute to that. Stop perpetuating false equivalencies.

I didn't say that i disagree,i agree completely

i was just talking about the cultural marxism supporting one view over another is the problem here which is culturally spread today in the West

It matters on that until we can complain about the decisions companies make.

And it matters that we recognize the bias and orientation of the company to make it clear they have motives that aren't just their TOS, because if they were to really follow their TOS a lot of pages on the left spectrum would fall down.

These companies are not democracies, why should you have the right to tell any company what to do?
The appropriate approach is to vote with your wallets and let the market decide.

And I think you are missing my position entirely. - I don't care that Alex Jones got removed, he deserves everything he gets.
And I actually agree that left-wing outlets should also be heavily scrutinized and if they conflict with Facebook's ToS, then should also get shut down.

" Religion was the first institution to really take advantage of the stupidity and apathy of humankind."

this woman is an athiest

this man is an atheist

these people do not believe in god and yet their thinking surpasses even the most ridiculous of religious zealots... the fact of the matter is that the minute people join some type of cause the potential is there for exploitation, this predates religion and after religion became a thing it was never exclusive to religion, it is an existential problem born out of being human

religion is not the problem here so i don't see why you even brought it up

and you don't believe in god? why not?

"
Instead of squawking about the media like a flock of parrots, maybe people should start taking personal responsibility for their own lack of civic engagement. Blaming the media for causing anything and everything is intellectually lazy."

one thing leads to the other, people have neglected their responsibility to be engaged with what is going on to the media and as a result they have been exploited

but yes you are right that people should be more engaged instead of putting their trust in the media

You do know atheism is just the lack of belief in dieties, not an opinion on political topics, right?

it also seemingly leaves a void in some people that leads to possession by the most hilariously stupid delusion ideas possible

i think if those people had god in their lives they could have escaped that possession, but they don't and look at them now

how much time do you have man... i'm just getting started

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

tally the topics alex jones has been wrong on and compare them to those he has been right on

then when you're finished with that tell me why the mainstream media doesn't care to tell the public how their sustenance is being sucked out of them, how they are being lied to and tricked and deceived all by their government and to what end

Alex Jones and Info Wars is mainly alternate facts, right wing conspiracy theories (pizza gate, chem trails, frogs turning gay etc.) and a heavy does of religious bullshit like calling people demons and saying they are possessed.  All that bullshit is mostly funded by selling you tons of snake oil on the side.  If you even believe 1/5 of the bullshit he says you have serious mental issues.
