Ok, so here's COD with the DL-only option. No "add to library"

Not the first time this has happened. I'm pretty sure it's added to your library regardless.

Now this is the kooky SWBF2 situation. Join EA Access? Yeah, that's why I'm here. Not to get this game as part of my paid subscription to PS+, but to join EA Access...Gross. Choose version? WTF is this? It gets better.

EA Access is there because it's part of EA Access, a service which Sony allows on the PS4. All EA Access games have this button (or should at least).

as for BF2, there are 2 editions of the game. The base version is available on PS+.  The options are laid out for you when you choose the version you want. I'm failing to see what's so complicated about this.

COD: I have roughly 600 games in my PS+ library, and I've never been only presented with just a download option. Never. So, it's added to your library regardless...Is it a good thing to have the option removed? To have the ability to simply add a game to your library at the touch of a button, or: Starting the download, exiting out of the store, going into the system menu, scrolling over to notifications, selecting it, selecting the download, and choosing to stop the download...one of these solutions is more elegant than the other. It's only mildly annoying now, doing it one time, slightly more so because of the company involved. I don't want it to become the norm.

SWBF2: "EA Access is there because it's part of EA Access."....Thanks for the explanation. :) I have never even glanced at an EA game on the PS Store. I did just now go to the PS Store and look at 4 games though. Dragon Age Inquisition and Mass Effect Andromeda had no EA Access icon, and FIFA and and NHL indicated that they were included with EA Access....Not the point. That Join EA Access icon is still there in place in the usual "add to library" icon, which again, I don't appreciate.

So, moving on to the choose version s***. There have been plenty of games offered on PS+ that also had a "GOTY" or whatever name complete editions also available, yet had no option to buy it when coming to pick it up on PS+, let alone the default option being the pay choice. But EA gonna EA. Do you think anybody coming to redeem their PS+ freebie are there to buy the game? Different version or not. Ridiculous. But it's not a different version.

Now, regarding the 2 editions of SWBF 2: I provided images.

- Top image, yellow bar Free, adjacent grey bar Full Game

- Second from top image, clearly shows the PS Hits standard edition thumnail Full game product description, below that the option to buy the SAME GAME for $26.99

- Last image, same game thumbnail because it's the same game, Playstation Hits, full game, for $26.99

- Even if the purchase option was for a different game, can you please show me how or where that is represented in with the information provided in the PS Store? I've laid it all out here. Have at it.

And finally, the only other version of SWBF2 on PSN is The Star Wars Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition, which has a price of $51.99.

I agree. Going back to the old way where you had to download and cancel in order to add a game to library is bullshit. I wasn't forced to download neither COD nor SW BF2 myself though but that's probably because I always use the browser store: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/home/games

It's way easier to browse and buy games there and I probably won't use the store on the console again before they've made it quicker, less buggy and more stable.

PS5 is kinda huge for a lving room.

It definitely is. I'm wondering if I should wait for the slim version

At least it seems like cooling has been a huge focus which was one of my 3 biggest complaints about PS4.
1. Better cooling of console
2. Longer battery life of controllers
3. Faster download speeds on PSN

Clicking on "choose version" takes your here. You get to choose between paying $26.99 for the game, or getting it for free....The default choice is to pay for it. I'm not joking. I did miss the next step unfortunately, which is a drop down menu showing both "versions".

I followed the rabbit all the way to the checkout, but will skip the last image. Here is the second to last step, with the "full game" for $26.99. The same "full game that you get with PS+.

This seems like a grift. An attempt to confuse people who my not know better, or aren't paying attention.

I find both of these situations very unsavory, and of course it EA and Activision behind them, because OF COURSE it is. Sony is culpable as well.

All I can say is, this better not become the norm, or even common. I was going to add another year to my PS+ sun during the days of play sale, but this nonsense put me off of that. I have about 53 weeks left, so whatever. Worth waiting to see if things are changing.

When I first got Plus for PS4, I automatically assumed that I had to download the whole game and keep it on the HDD when it said "download free", so I didn't bother with a few earlier on. When I found out once you add it to downloads that it automatically is added to your library I was a little ticked off. Why wouldn't they always have the "add to library" button regardless? Some of my friends thought the same thing until I eventually read about it and mentioned it to them.

As for SWBF2, I'm pretty sure that both options had no price but one wasn't selectable, and I believe there was an "add to library" button instead of "add to cart". After the version selection, it definitely didn't take me to any further purchasing screens.

I added both of these about a week ago, so maybe they changed something with the SWBF2 selection process perhaps?

So you had 2 options but only one was selectable? Now that's even weirder, because as you can clearly see, this was not the case for me. Incidentally, I did try this twice. Once when it initially went up, and again about 10 days later, so it wasn't some brief aberration. Anyway, glad to have another response from a North American/Canadian, because aside from you and Blood_Tears, all the other people who have responded both on VGC and PSN have all been from the EU, where this change apparently did not occur.

Yup. I think both selections just said Game (not certain) and neither had a price, as if they were the same. It's not like one was faded/grayed out, it just didn't seem to allow selecting the other, which I didn't worry about because I didn't see the difference. Clicked add to library and got the "this game has been added to your library" pop up.

I bought Def Jam Fight for NY. for 128 dollars...

Nothing for me again this month I guess. Already played Rise of the Tomb Raider, don't care about NBA 2K20, and Erica apparently isn't that great of a game, but it's the only one I might consider getting of the three.

I've only heard positive things about Erica. You either like FMV games or you don't. That's really all that needs to be considered.

Well, I think the last time I actually played a proper FMW game was in the 90's, so maybe I'll give this one a shot.
