Over a year after its release, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been updated. Nintendo has added some special functionality to the game. Once you’ve installed the latest patch, it’ll be compatible with Nintendo Labo.

The compatibility specifically extends to the Toy-Con Motorbike. This is included with the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was updated tonight to support Nintendo Labo. That won’t be the only game to be given such treatment.

In an announcement covering today’s patch and new contest, Nintendo states: “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the first game outside of Nintendo Labo software to receive Toy-Con support, and more titles will be compatible with Nintendo Labo in the future.”

Interesting, it seems that Nintendo plans to support Labo long term and point that you can use Labo outside Labo games definitely gives Labo higher value than it had.

Good for the people that like labo.

Well, if they want to sell Labo, this is certainly one way to do it.

That’s actually a very smart move. It’s honestly making me think about buying the Variety Kit.

Desperate attempt to bail the water from the ship. What makes Nintendo great (innovation) is also what makes them suck sometimes. They can't just be happy with doing well. They HAVE to do shit differently... at... all... costs.

Desperate attempt to bail the water from the ship!? Switch is doing OK in any case and this will actually give more appealing to Labo espacily because they expecting very good sales during holiday season, and Nintendo usually give additional support and compatibility to their products similar to this.

The ship here isn't the Switch - that's the ocean. The ship in this case is Labo.

Say what you will about Labo, but this isn't enough to get people who aren't already onboard with the idea.

I know that, like I wrote, but point is that Labo is doing OK (not great and not bad) in any case, and this idea will actually give more appealing to Labo espacily because they expecting very good sales during holiday season.

I'm sure Nintendo is near bankruptcy due to Labo. Can you imagine the risk they took by selling cardboard for $75+ dollars. Cardboard is not cheap. They must have lost at least $100 on each unit sold.

On a more serious note. It's like Nintendo needed to put out an entire direct, tv commercials and billboards to tell people that Labo is not for them and to ignore it. Their little PSA announcement before the direct that announced it that said something along lines of "this is not for adults, but for little kids." was not enough. So many adults want the thing to fail because they don't like it.
