I dont see how the "b-but many use it that way" argument matters, untill the implication of the useage is clear his "fact/example" is wrong

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

If it's not clear how is he wrong? He can only be wrong if it is known that it wasn't meant that way.

Again, that goes back to using other adjectives that are more specific and relate more to the actual behaviour, rather than just using the term autistic. And of course it's relating to low expectations of blacks, my whole point was that I know people who view blacks negatively and thus they use that as a slur for traits that they deem as inferior, in the same way that those who use the term autistic as an insult use the term because they view autistics as inferior. |
I'm not going to be long-winded when I can get an entire point across with a single word that has medical facts backing it.
And again you conflate race with disease. Are black people just a disease to you?
Maybe you should quit whole you're ahead. You keep comparing known symptoms of a disease to racial stereotypes, and it just won't look good no matter how you do it.

The only way what I said can be interpreted that way is if you believe that autistic people are just a disease to you, I made no mention about autistic people being just a disease, I said autism was a trait that people are born with, much like being black is a trait you're born with.

Go ahead and go tell some random people on the street how gay they're are and maybe you wil understand how its percieved in our society.
Or maybe you don't like to do that out of decency cause yeah that's the point everyone is trying to make . :p

That does not even matter,it stays rude and the person you say it to does not know what you see as autistic. Its not widespread known so dont be like its clear :p At least tell them they're being egoistic or arrogant or edgy, be specific so people know what they need to work on. But that's my view on it so we can agree to dissagree and i would never want it to be forbidden to use certain words. |
Not going to censor my non-racist/homophobic/transphobic/misogynistic language to spare feelings. If you've annoyed me to the point that I'm going to be rude about it, assess your own behavior.
And it's been pretty known ever since Hollywood decided to make it known, let's not pretend we're still in the early 2000's.

I'm talk about known symptoms of a known disease, and you're conflating it with racial stereotypes. You're either flying in the face of medical facts and saying autistic behavior can be fully controlled, or you're being a bigot and saying black people can't help but act stereotypical.

It might be yes but that's you, this thread is about the use of that word in general. Context offcourse matters.
