Forums - Sony - Official Sony PlayStation E3 2018 Thread

Okay, to be fair Sony did warn us that their focus would be the four core games. I'll have to admit, though it needs to stick to on stage somehow. You can waste a lot of money just for frills. But I can't say that being there would have been a better experience. Us streamers want a show, a movie. Not a intermission after the first 20 minutes or so. But I don't even kind the music stuff as long as it's not to drawn out as the music can be a huge part of any game. The countdown to E3 stuff the days before they could have just saved it for this event though and made it seem bigger, longer. But I think Sony is in a position where they can risk change while they're at the top of their game. Hopefully they listen to feedback for future shows. Heck combine last years PSX with furniture row and the showcase portion of E3 and I'm content. But Sony has the luxury of knowing they don't have to wow 80% of their show with Multiplats that Microsoft showed off because they already know they have majority in sales of any of those games. Probably even 2 to 1 on some. So far July and August are empty, hell even June as far as exclusives or AAA multiplat games come to mind. Unless we get Dream and/or Concrete Genie before September. September starts the snowball effect for games. That's while I feel Sony isn't concerned with taking risk at E3. They have Gamescom, Paris Games Week, Tokyo Game Show and PSX. And still no sign or gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2, Bloodborne 2 if it's happening, BluePoint's next Remaster/Remake and we're almost certain hardware reveal is 2019. So we ride out the rest of the year playing great games up through February of just year at this point.

Yeah, you're right about Nintendo as well. Who can forget about the Wii Music debacle? *shudders*

Seems to me that, if a person is a fan of one particular brand? They should almost hope that they DON'T succeed lol.

Yea, it's a rollercoaster. nobody likes to be doing shitty, but that moment when you can tell the ship is righting its course is always so awesome. Nintendo fans right now are currently on that ride back up. Microsoft seems to have reached the bottom of the hill and started going back up. I mean the only reason I have a One right now is for the 4k player, and almost kind of was embarrassed having the one with Microsofts comments about single player and so on. But this e3 made me proud to have it, even though I don't buy any games for it anyway.

Sony is, well you watched the conference. Won't be long until we hear some dumbass comment like "$699.00"

I always end up buying all three no matter what so for me, I get to sit back and watch from an almost unbiased perspective. There's always something redemptive about every console. Even if it's media-based, like the 4K player you mentioned. But man... it's weird. Almost every generation, I end up liking the MOST popular console the LEAST. I think it has something to do with what we're talking about. The leader gets fat, gets cocky, and before you know it, they're implementing anti-consumer measures (PS Now instead of BC etc.) and giving everyone the finger because... well... they can.

As for $699.99 consoles go... I guess we'll just have to get another job to afford it. Right?

I watched it now and my god... that was just bad.

The pros:

- A Remedy game has a release date. This is something.

The cons:

- The format. WHAT THE HELL were they thinking? Let's interrupt the show for interviews?!
- They just showcased a handful of games.
- Death Stranding; I can see why people hype Kojima Games somehow, eventhough it is not my cup of tea. But this looked sooooo boring. They showed him delivering packages in a wasteland for literally 8 minutes. It did not work for Kevin Costner in Postman and it did not work here.
- Almost NO announcements. It didn't even have to be exclusives. Just announce games! Resident Evil 2 Remaster, Nioh 2, Control and an indie game. That was your E3 presentation?! COME ON!
- The guys playing music... Can't be serious.

Oh and in case you did not notice: PSVR is dead.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Your listed Pro's seems to have a disturbing lack of "Tsushima gameplay".

Matter of Taste, but that was a con for me. Looked boring and generic as it can get to me.

Why didn't they show RDR2 gameplay?
I mean, they have a marketing deal... That was something I was really looking forward to.

Lol, loving the reaching "arrogant Sony" comments. Why? Because they tried something different in the first 20 mins that didn't work? The rest of the conference was perfectly fine after that. I guess it's just wishful thinking, hoping that next gen isn't a repeat of this one. Sorry, but Sony isn't coming out with a $699 system. They are going to repeat the same model as this gen, $399 (possibly $449) system with a flood of 1st/3rd party content throughout the gen. It's helping them crush the competition this gen, and it will help them do the same next gen.

The show was only one game away from perfection. Bloodborne 2...

As for the show itself, it was weird and there was too much talk. I'm old school here so I'd rather a regular conference than the weird stuff they did. But the games were great as expected. It was better than the fairly good Microsoft conference, game-wise I mean cause show-wise they had a better presentation.

There's not exactly alot of samurai action rpgs around so that doesn't make much sense.

Typical console warz. It was a pretty decent conference for sony. We saw alot of gameplay footage of interesting exclusives that will push console sales.
