Google Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, Ghostbusters video game and the real Ghostbusters. There was an established franchise. Their complete mismanagement of the film destroyed an established and beloved franchise
Yes, after JL they realized they needed to do more. But they weren't just mucking around waiting for their future films to do poorly after they saw the writing on the wall at the start.
