Forums - Nintendo - New details about the Nintendo online services surfaces!

$20/year is pretty cheap IMO...I spend 3 times as much on PS+ and only really use it for Monster Hunter. Curious what games will be added as time goes on.

Yeah yeah...free would be better of course, but this whole thing has been known for a while now.

You say you pay for PS Plus which means that it's not "just" 35 or 20 a year... it's 95 and 80 a year, because you're now being forced into paying for two services. I own all three consoles which means, I would have to fork over 155 dollars a year just to play online games. That's just fucking ridiculous imo.

$60 a year, plus just $20 more. I don't need to pay for anything, it's a luxury expense at the end of the day.

Still...I compared the two because it's all relative. Once I'm paying for both, 75% of my online fees will go into the PS ecosystem, 25% into Nintendo. Given I'll likely play Switch online more than 1/3 of how much I play on PS4...it's not hard for me to rationalize.

Obviously free would be better...but knowing this is a paid service is honestly old news at this point. The surprise here is what's being offered, which mostly falls in line with what I was expecting.

In my family we have 3 switches and 5 accounts.
Can we pay a single 35 subscription for all switches and accounts?

From what I've read, yes.

How can Nintendo prove they are not part of your family?

Also, different systems shouldn't be a problem either - just imagine parents buying a Switch for each of their kids, don't think Nintendo would want to infuriate them.

The only real restriction I see would be same country/region

By being on a different system..? That was exactly my question. Is it really not limited to a specific system?

Suscribed.
389.00 pesos for a full year.

My guess is that Nintendo is going to push an online platform and later focus on that. Hardware will not be a main focus but this platform.

In some years, the moment you suscribe you will have an extense library to play. Of course they will charge more money per year.

This could be the all digital 'brave' future. Could be good or bad .

Bold: The debt-based fiat system we live in will increase those prices. Nintendo has little to do with that. Everyone will be raising their prices.

Oh and still no internet browser or friend messaging. I'm sure they're thinking the E3 hype will drown out the negativity surrounding this, and they're probably right!

I don't think you're wrong, if I remember correctly the Xbox 360 was the same, but that was way back in the day. Don't really know how it works now.

Either way, the only thing I really really care about is an improved online, and it doesn't seem like we're getting that. It's been almost a year since Splatoon 2 and it's still absolutely baffling that it uses PvP and has a worse tick rate than the first game's, which was already very bad - this is a game Nintendo is (vaguely) trying to push as an eSport, mind you - I can only imagine how worse it'd be for other games. I mean, this shit is just unacceptable. I'd pay $20 for a Splatoon 2 and a Smash 5 that I could play online with no lag or disconnects or input delay or whatever bullshit, but I don't think that'll happen, so I've every right to be disappointed.

I've been playing Splatoon 2 a lot (I think over 100 hours at this point) and I think I only had a couple of disconnects in all that time, and I don't think I ever had an input delay.

The first Splatoon was really bad, that was a very painful experience even though I loved the game, and don't get me started on Smash....

But the point is I honestly can't see how Nintendo didn't improve their online, it's waaaaay better than in the Wii U days.

I didn't play 100 hours of Splatoon 2 yet, but from what I've played, players tend to drop out of matches much more frequently.

In the first one it would happen from time to time, but in Splatoon 2 I have it happen almost every other match, and it hasn't improved since launch.

What I don't think I have seen yet is input delay. That would happen sometimes in Splatoon on WiiU. But honestly I'd rather have my ink not showing up for a few seconds than people dropping out of every other match.

I'm holding out hope that this isn't everything. They couldn't have delayed the NSO for... this right? I mean this is exactly what they said they would offer a year ago. Perhaps they're waiting to announce the other features?

For now I suppose I'll assume this is it and it's gonna be trash once it launches.

I thought the main thing was you pay online, in return you get these free games and better online service

I'm mostly referring to the app seemingly being the only way to do voice chat, game invites etc. I thought the delay was being used to improve things and maybe get that stuff on the OS but apparently not.

If it wasn't to do that then I don't know why it was delayed in the first place.

I mean outside of cloud saves they didn't really add anything new.
