Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony FY2017 - HW 19 Million Sold, SW 246.9 Million Sold. 79 Million Shipped Ending March 31st.

16 million sounds a bit pessimistic to me but maybe they are just trying to be conservative. Or, if the PS5 really releases in late 2019, they are allocating resources to it already. Should be a nice battle between the PS4 and the Switch this year.

They were pessimistic with their forecast last March as well. They increased their forecast by 1M halfway through the FY. By the end of the next FY, the PS4 would have caught up with the Wii.

16m seems low for shipments, it's at the very least on track to sell 18m to consumers this calendar year. It almost gives more credit to the q1 2019 ps5 rumour. xD

But 96m shipped by March 2019, I can live with that.

FY 2018. just started, not even hole month is over.

Did you miss the word "calendar"?

True I forgot they changed last years forecast.

I fully expect they'll raise the forecast, perhaps to 18m.

PlayStation had an operating profit of $1.6 Billion.

Sony forecasts 16 Million PS4s for FY2018. A three million unit decrease from the year prior.

Huh? why? ... guess this means no price cuts this year.

*sigh*

Why are people surprised by the forecast? It’s literally dead in japan.

PS5 is coming close I feel.

Its been sold out (stock issues) for like 2months or more there.... Hard to sell something you dont have.
If Sony fix'ed stock issues, you d see it go back to ~25k a week again, instead of doing like 12-15k atm.

There's some people you quote, and others you ignore. If you've not learnt yet I recommend looking at this persons post history. xD

Yeah, I guess they are just being conservative and will beat their own forecast.

When you think you know sales and the situation in Japan, but you really don't.

Sony always lowball their initial projection and keep raising it through the year guys.
Expect at least 18M by the time the last forecast is made.
