I'm on the verge of buying a new TV for the HDR capabilities, and I'm deciding between a 55" and a 65".  But when is "big" too big?  The room in question for this TV has had both a 55" and a 60" in it.  And the viewing distance from the screen is around 9 feet.  Both TVs are affordable, but there is a $500 difference between them.  Could I really justify that $500 difference for 10 more inches on a diagonal?  Regardless of the viewing charts you can find online, it ultimately depends on personal preference.

So what size is your viewing area, and how far do you sit from it?  How it's working for you?

55 inch and I sit around 10-12 foot away, basically my tv is in one corner and I sit at the opposite corner.

It's not too big until it doesn't fit in your field of view or room.

But I'm around 8.5ft away from my 43" TV.

55inch - 3 meters

50 Inch, and between 1-2 meters. It is my bedroom so I cannot really go too far.

42 inch - 6,5 feet. once tried 55 .. it was a total overkill.

I have a 65 (4K/HDR) size TV and I sit 3.15m from it.

I have connected PS4 Pro and 1080Ti PC to it, so I play 4k often.

But before (1 year ago) I had a 55 inches 1080p TV.

I do not feel much difference. Really.

That 55 inches TV I have moved to other room and I lie 2.6m from it.

Connected to it other PC, PS3, X360. 1080p still feels great.

But ultimately its about what you are comfortable with. I have a 55 inch 4k tv and I sit about 9 feet from it.

A response such as this makes me think to be more "content" with a 55".

70 inch and 3 meter, which is good for 1080p. For 4k content I could even move a little closer.
