Back when Sony announced 73,6m consoles sold (nr from dec 31st 2017), they said they had sold 645m copies of games (retail+digital).

645m games / 73,6m consoles = ~8,76  attach rate (back at end of 2017).

Its only going to keep going up, as the PS4 ages.
Plus tons of "must-have" titles are comeing in 2018-2019.

Damn, I always thought Kirby was an important franchise for Nintendo. But, I never thought it could be a legit system seller! Color me impressed!

Switch currently on 12. and 13. positions, who would think that Kirby will be so popular, but there's definitely some Direct effect.

More than Fire Emblem more than Metroid etc...

Its alot below zelda actually. Kirby is a good mid tier size nintendo ip that sells consistently. Easy development, good fanbase, experimental (only 2nd to Mario), good for all ages. 

Other franchises couldnt get away with what kirbys output of games does imo (excluding pokemon/mario)
