Forums - Sales Discussion - After 1 year Horizon has sold more then BOTW Switch

As of the start of Feb BOTW switch has sold 6.7m. With the wii u version it was 7.8m so across two platforms it has sold more.

But in terms of ps4 vs switch horizon is leading the battle with 7.6m sold. Both games have many similarities and both won many GOTY awards. I expect zelda to sell more eventually on the Switch but given this is a new ip from geurilla i think its extremely impressive.

Could horizon 2 potentially outsell the next zelda?

If you include de WiiU version, it has sold 8 million as of december 30th

Anything is possible if the userbase is big enough and the timing is right.

Who knows what will happen

Great sales for both but no BotW has sold more.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

That's insane considering Zelda is one of Nintendo's biggest IP's and Horizon is a new IP from Sony!

I wish these comparisons would just stop. At this point you can't find a thread on Horizon which doesn't have Zelda mentioned in it

6.7 in December 2017. So wrong numbers and closed topic

Wrong. BOTW Switch alone shipped 6.7 million as of December 31st, not February. It sold through 6 million as of December 31st as well. Wii U BOTW is at 1.5 million sold through as of December 31st.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/sell-through-data-for-nintendo-switch-software-odyssey-7-5m-mk8d-6-5m-botw-6m-splatoon-2-4-5m.20366/

These numbers also exclude sold through numbers in some areas, such as Asia, Latin America and more. So this isn’t even the full worldwide sold through numbers.

So BOTW was above 7.5 million as of December 31st, sold to consumers. That’s 2 months older than Horizons numbers and already almost as high, and without certain areas factored in as well. So BOTW should still be ahead of Horizon in total due to these factors, both sold through and shipped.

Since BOTW was 7.5 million sold through as of December 31st, it’s shipped numbers should be over 8.2 million as well, as the Switch version alone was shipped 6.7 million at the above stated date.

So, shipped as of December 31st: Above 8.2 million

Sold as of December 31st: 7.5 million, excluding Asia, Latin America and other regions.

This is correct. Sony could boost units by bundling the title in the US though.

That Zelda number is as of December 30th.So your premise is already wrong. And that figure also dosent include certain parts of the world.Plus cherrypicking facts, like ignoring the Wii U version when its all said and done(like concluding like "Yeah Horizon sold better!") also dosent make for a good discussion starting point.I dont think you would be ignoring sales number if by any chance Horizon were on the PS3 too.

Why cant we simply agree that both games were great and sold well?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
