The WiiU was 50 percent stronger than PS360. This is fact. Now if it got fully utilized at any point...that is another debate for another day.
The Nintendo Switch hardware is... | |||
| A big leap over 7th gen | 71 | 40.11% | |
| A minor leap over 7th gen | 72 | 40.68% | |
| About the same as 7th gen | 24 | 13.56% | |

I'm not incorrect, the Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) Wii U port for example looked much better than on the PS3/360. Pretty sure there was an in-depth thread about it back then.

You'd have to cut more than just resolution and framerate to get those running on PS3/360; RAM footprint would have to be dramatically decreased, which would mean lower resolution textures, decreased quantity and quality of assets, more aggressive LOD. A lot of the newer lighting and effects techniques in Mario would likely also have to be removed/simplified to work on the ancient 2005/2006 era GPUs in PS3/360.
| Shiken said: The Switch is a noticeable leap from the PS360, period. I really grt tired of this debate because it is just ridiculous to think otherwise. Skyrim on PS3 ran like garbage, lowest res version, long load times. Skyrim on Switch has the MOST STABLE version framerate wise out of ANY console version according to DF, rocks 1080p res, and is based on the PS4 special edition. Seriously, we know it is below PS4, but it is far more capable than PS360. |
Yeah but see you're comparing a release done on ps3 when the game was first launched, versus a version of the engine that's undergone countless releases and optimizations since, so like I said, it depends how you look at it and which games, it's not simply a case of "x version versus y"
Hell look at the difference between day 1 and the 2.01 patch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k59oIfotq1w
And that 2.01 patch video is for a build that is now 7 years old.
And then, we have the difference between xbox 360 and ps3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuOBSSabBU0
The xbox 360 had a very stable framerate and much cleaner, less blurry graphics.
And as for that 1080p claim?
DF themselves saying 900p : https://youtu.be/qqR58L9oEOc?t=159
"Among the most obvious changes between the Nintendo Switch version and the PlayStation 4 edition of Skyrim is the game's running resolution: in docked mode, Skyrim seems to be running at a steady 900p resolution. Undocked, however, Skyrim dynamically scales the resolution, doing its best to keep the game running around 720p but occasionally dipping down to around 896x720."

lol this is not fact. People originally thought it actually was, it's about the same power wise, maybe wiiu slightly better, this is very old news.

We're going to have secret sauce threads any minute now.
I mean, PS4 is a slight improvement over PS3, so of course it's not huge. But if you think PS4 to PS3 is huge, then, yes Switch to PS3 is quite a big leap. You can't even compare them in terms of texture, resolution and framerate. Most PS3 games struggled at 720/30 fps. I still play PS3 and those games look fucking ugly. I don't know about X360 because I never had one.

I don't know mario doesn't look all that impressive, aside from cutting to 600p, i'm sure they could run it, now doom, no way, switch can barely run that.

spec wise it's a huge improvement, this is a fact, what are you talking about?

Besides running on a GPU 10 years more modern with much more advanced features, Mario is also running on 3GB of RAM, so putting it on PS3/360 would mean you'd have to squeeze it down into 1/6th the amount of memory; a drop to 600p alone won't do that.
