just had a conversation on reddit about vr with a guy claiming vr would suck and how he has tried it and even owned a oculus rift 2 and that he played fallout 4 vr with it.
i told him that something like a oculus rift 2 doesn’t exist and fallout 4 beeing a vive game not a rift game.
he then told he that when you dissambly the oculus rift 2 and There will be a new HDMI Standard on the rift 2 and there will be a Label „2nd revision“. Also he claimed he used a tool to trick his pc into thinking his rift is a vive to play fallout 4 vr.
I told him there still isn’t a 2nd revision of the rift but that the vive got some internal changes half a year ago. I also told him that steam vr is a open platform so he wouldn’t need to trick his pc into thinking the rift would be a vive but that fallout 4 just plays badly on the rift because the Touch controllers don’t work well with the game.
he then linked me a article about the oculus rift dk2 and claimed this would be his „rift 2“.
i told him that the dk2 is a development kit and no „rift 2“ and that’s it’ vastly different from both the dk1 and the cv1, so there is no reason to dissambly the headset to see internal changes to tell it’s a „rift 2“ (the full external case is completly different).
it was pretty obvious that he never owned a vr headset, never played fallout 4 vr and likely never expierenced vr as well.
im just wondering why do people claim that they have tried something they obviously havnt and that they disliked it? What’s the reason for that ?
