Yeah, but the absolutist attitude some have is a bit ridiculous. People should be more reserved about stuff like this. It ain't fun when you get it wrong and people mercilessly ridicule you for it months later.

Jaaa? There were around 60 necro-bumped threads last week full of ridicule. S' fun :)

It's fun when it's not you. And I've also engaged in it and it's certainly a little fun, but still. As a point of advice, I think people should think twice before making bold statements (and not find themselves as a laughing stock later).

This isnt 1/100th as crazy as John Lucas' Wii U prediction.
Switch is displaying early signs of mainstream success by having one of the best launch years ever so even though this prediction is extremely unlikely, there is at least a slight chance of it happening.
On the other hand, Wii U was a known failure just months after launch let alone years after launch when JL was still predicting that. That prediction was so rediculous because it was absolutely impossible to happen.
So like i said, this is unlikely to happen but its still a far cry from JL's Wii U prediction.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
A lot of words for a fairly shallow analysis. That isn't to say I think you are absolutely wrong though, just probably wrong.

Precisely! Yeah, some may push things too much with the mocking, given many of the most inaccurate predictions were made, at the very least, in a polite manner. But if somebody makes an insane prediction and is also an ass about it, like say they put "LOL!" in the post, then it should be open season.
