Forums - Sales - Switch > XB1 > PS4 During December In US - Greenberg (Confirmed, read OP)

There was alot going against PS4 in December this year, so I'm not really sure why some of you are so surprised that PS4 was 3rd.

-Switch has been strong ever since release with only stock issues allowing PS4 to win every month it won this year since Switch released with the exception of November, and Nintendo managed to keep it in stock most of the month, with the exception of Cyber Monday, so 1st place for it isn't a big surprise.

-PS4 and Switch were out of stock on Cyber Monday while XB1 still had stock left. Cyber Monday is typically the 1st or 2nd biggest shopping day of the year for gaming so alot of Xbox's could have been sold that day, giving it a sizeable leg up on PS4 for month

-XB1 was $200 for almost all of December, while PS4 was $250 for 2 weeks of the month then went back up to $300.

-Sony went with SW Battlefront 2 for their main Holiday bundle, which ended up being a mistake since the lootbox controversy damaged SW Battlefront 2 sales potential quite alot. They should have bundled CoD WW2 instead.

Guessing whether the PS4 or the XB1 won #2 was a crapshoot, as well, considering that Benji said multiple times that it could go either away.

Thinking about it more, if he was talking about units sold for all 3, why separate them? Why specify gens when it would change nothing? Why use the term units when going on to talk about the Switch, if he was already talking about units sold? Why not just first tweet that they are #1 for Gen 8, then? Or home consoles? The thing I keep thinking is he is talking about revenue for Gen 8, but then switches to units for Switch.

Wouldn't make much sense to talk about revenue then units. The Xbox slim was $189 for the whole month while PS4 slim was $250 so even with X it's possible Sony had more revenue. Also I think Switch probably had more revenue overall since it was $300. I think he's talking about units sold for the second tweet.

He could be talking about revenue about all of it you know.  In fact that would explain both tweets and it would make our assumption about units sold inconclusive.

Since the Xbox One X was just released last year and we are considering it a mid gen upgrade, I'd highly doubt the Switch should be considered 9th generation when we still have half of 8th generation to live out. It's just not late enough in 8th generation for a console as new as the Switch to be considered the Next Generation. Does Greenberg thinks he's talking to fools, or is he just projecting himself on others?

I hate this guy. And of course, this isn't atypical of the type of crap that has come from MS/Xbox for a long while now. Every time something like this happens, I feel like I've let myself down by not keeping a running tab of gafs/offenses. Looking forward to seeing how this shakes out.

Was watching the flames beat Tampas ass 5-1, so thanks to whichever mod edited the thread.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

That doesnt anwser the question that a console *with no games* VG community, is selling well.

I think is absolutel funny.

Is it selling well in Europe and Japan? That’s your answer. Xbox only competes in UK and US.

Chevolets dont sell well in Japan or Europe either. Whats your point?

Good news for Xbox? This thread will be closed soon.
Someone explain to me how a console with no games or 1st party titles sells like this? Atleast thats what iv been told by other VG Users.

Being sold for $189 all December while Sony allowed the PS4 to return to its MSRP would do the trick. Not to mention, the 1TB PS4 was out of stock before it even hit Cyber Monday and its deals for December were actually worse than last December's.

So in other words, exclusive dont sell consoles. Something iv been saying for years. Marketing and bundles etc do.

Well if he considers x one x as 8th gen, why no switch too?
For me, either switch pro and one x are 8.5 gen.

BTW, the tweet means that xbox sold more than 2014 or just profitted more?

Yep. One single isolated month is proof versus the entire eighth generation of 4 + years. Nothing else matters. That's how it always worked.

:::sarcasm:::

I have a funny feeling we are all gonna feel a bit dumb when we realize that the he was talking about revenue in reference to the PS4 and not units sold.
