Bitterness from hardcore serious "real" gamers.

The whole thing felt cheap, the controllers, the connectors, accessories. At that point it was odd seeing something so low quality from Nintendo. Not to mention the wiimote, made it more of a toy than a gaming system.

Also after gaming on my shiny new 360 for a few months prior to my first experience with the Wii, the graphics were an absolute joke.

Props to Nintendo for creating a phenom though, but it just wasnt my cup of tea.

That being said, I've absolutely loved every other piece of gaming hardware Nintendo has put out, even the Wii U.

I see. I do not agree with much of what you said but it is your opinion so I can accept that.

I also had a 360 before Wii (as I got my 360 a little after launch and it did RRoD on me) but I guess I could accept the downgrade in graphics if the game was No More Heroes or something. I did enjoy DS even though PSP blew it away, too. Maybe you did not like DS though because 360 murders it graphically, too.

To the contrary I loved the DS and in fact spent a month trying to get a DS Lite during a crazy shortage. Of course I wasn't expecting 360 level graphics on a handheld so thats apples to oranges. Not to mention, DS lite was around what $130 in 2006? Compared to $400 for 360...

But compared to the PSP, it was very underpowered...

True, but IMO the quality difference between the 360 and Wii was more pronounced than DS vs PSP. Especially considering DS had some amazing software that was comfortable to hold and game with, no waggling required.

Well from a factual basis, your comments have reached hypocrisy. DS looked like a toy and had horrible graphics for the time (PSP blew it away) and the games must have looked like a joke compared to 360. I can now say that you have reached a wall you must overcome here.

By the time you played Wii you had to know the graphics were a downgrade so if you were expecting 360 level performance (or even close as everyone back then knew it was closer to PS2 than 360) then you are just placing your own, hypocritical barrier on Wii. Comparing graphics with all consoles is fair since they are all video game consoles and they are all vying for your money.

DS also started the casual gaming revolution with games like Brain Training and Cooking Mama... yet people had no problems buying an underpowered handheld that looked more like a toy than a video game console and offered nongamers all kinds of options. No, no, everyone takes their ire out on Wii. See my confusion?

So it seems as if you didn't start this thread to get people's actual opinions, but rather try and school people why their distaste for Wii is incorrect?

Fair enough.

I loved it at first but it never fulfilled it's huge potential. Nintendo stuff was great as expected, but so much shovelware really did nothing for its reputation. I will admit to really enjoying FPS on Wii due to the pointer controls though. Games like The conduit 1 and 2, COD, Goldeneye, Red Steel 2 and medal of honour heroes were great.

The wii was weird. It sold well. But was still weird.

I stated everything about my intentions in the opening thread. I said I would challenge people (especially from a factual basis) and that is what I have done here. Every opinion is super important to me and extremely valid. I just want to be sure that people understand where their opinion and facts may not align. And also to maybe correct me if I am wrong about something.

I am doing this for research as much as anything but do not act like because I raise some counterpoints that I did not make myself and my intentions clear from the jump.
